It's astigmatism. The human eye is generally shaped like a basketball, if it's shaped more like a football (less round), that does not allow images to fall in sync on the retina and produces a bit more fuzziness. It's generally correctable with glasses and/or contacts, and with refractive surgery. It can be inheirited to some degree, most everyone who wears glasses (and even those who don't), have a small amount. It can also be induced by wearing contacts for an extended period (usually the hard ones), and can also be surgically or traumatically induced. It's not life-threatening, and it's no big deal. If you have a bit of astigmatism in your glasses or contact correction, you'll be just fine! And, no, it's not a lazy eye, either! That is a completely different disorder of which astigmatism may be a part of, but you don't need to worry about that!

the cornea is oval like a football instead of round like a basketball. Soft toric contact lenses can help you see better. In most cases, astigmatism is present at birth as the size and shape of the eye is developed in the womb. It may be due to environmental and genetic factors but the exact cause isn’t known. Sometimes astigmatism can develop after an eye injury, surgery or eye disease.

Astigmatism...It means you have a lazy eye. I don't think it's genetic...unless it was my ancestors from a long time ago. I have one acutally in my right eye and I have to wear a stronger contact in that eye. It can be corrected if caught early enough. They caught mine when I was nine, but it was already too late!

I have one in my right eye and so does my mother, so my guess is it can be genetic. I find that they can never quite master the vision in that eye with contacts, but I think laser surgery can get rid of it. My right eye never seems as good as the left.

I believe you mean Astigmatism. It is an eye condition. Unfortunately it is a hereditary condition but it is treatable. Here's a few sites you can read up on it.
