Muslims make up 3% of Britain's population, yet because a small handful of the more crackpot ones have said we should have Islamic law in the UK, some people are hysterical about the threat of Sharia Law being instituted here. Yeah, and monkeys might fly out of my butt!
Why the hysteria? Anyone would think the Martians had just landed!

The Muslim population of Britain is only 3% and not ALL of them WANT Sharia Law here. I'm willing to bet that only a small minority DO.
So why do people keep whingeing about how the Muslims are going to take over and institute Sharia law here?
Hell is more likely to freeze over! GET A GRIP PEOPLE!

Panic makes people act and think in the craziest of ways. That might explain some of the answers on here. This law would never be passed, the people wouldn't allow it, they'd be riots. What really bothers me is that people will think this law will try to be instituted and then go and vote for the BNP.
Frightening isn't it?

Sharia law includes brutal, savage and primitive punishments for things that we, in the 21st century don't consider to be illegal in any case - ie. homosexuality (although I personally must admit to sharing their view on that one point). A good example is the english (Pakistani) man, found not guilty TWICE by civil court but under death sentence by the sharia court. justice? Don't make me laugh!
The problem is that in its efforts to bend over backwards to kowtow to the mohommedans, they already have such things as sharia mortgages from the banks. Why? It should be one rule for all and that rule should be the English one.
If the mohommedans come to England, it is presumably because they want to be English. fine, then let them behave like the english.
If thay don't want to join us on those terms, they should go back where they came from. Of course, many will say that the government there is corrupt and their lives might be in danger. Well, if so, like the French resistance during the war, they should be back there trying to improve their country.
The words rats and sinking ships come to mind.

Sharia law is medieval and barbaric, for those of you who did not witness on TV the execution of a woman by having her throat cut in a public place in Kandahar, Afghanistan under Sharia law simply for wearing the wrong kind of shoes and showing an ankle. Why would anyone wish to institute such a law???. If the Pakistani Muslim community in the UK want such a law then they should go back to their country of origin and have it there.
Muslims in the UK should be grateful for our liberal way of life it lets them demonstrate for the simplest of reasons and decry our way of life without being punished by hitting with rods or being shot or having public executions for very minor infringements of law.

Have you not heard the audacious demands they already make?
It is the tolerance the Brits have shown which resulted in the train bombings in London.
We see Mosques and Halal meat shops by the dozen. Women in Hijabs & Burkhas everywhere. This was a rare sight just a decade ago. There are town in England and Scotland where some areas are totally alien.

Lets remember one thing and one thing only.This is a Christian country and we are Christians here. If no one else likes it there are so many airports and ports to leave. No one has asked anyone to come here. They came on their own free will and can go at their own free will. When we, as christians, are not allowed to take in bibles and other religious literature into the Islamic countries shouldnt we do like for like...? When we are not allowed to build churches in their countries should they also be allowed to build mosques? Its Ok for them to get het up when a mosque is destroyed but how many temples and churches have they destroyed? Muslims should realise one thing in religion....the religion started off with the Jews and then the Christians followed still believing in the Jewish torah and then came the Muslims who believe in abraham and other religious leaders from the bible so why are we all called "kaffirs"? Kaffirs are non believers but we do believe...maybe not everything they believe in but parts of their religion is based on ours also if I am not mistaken.

Quite simple: We already have a legal system in the UK and it applies to everyone, therefore there cannot be a different and independent legal system that applies to a subset of the population.

I often feel as if the Martians have landed when I see what's happened to the UK. We've seen what can happen when a minister raises a perfectly legitimate question about the wearing of veils and masks. We have to be on our guard.
