I got one the other day from an 00845, I dialled 1471, wrote down the number and removed the first 0 from it. It was a courtesy call from a Catalogue company, LX Direct. They are getting as bad as double glazing and kitchen sales callers.
hope this helps :)

This is usaully a computer from a credit firm or something like that.
The computer has your number on its list to do that day. It will call your number and if you pick up but there isnt an actual person available then obviously the computer cannot speak so nothing....

Don't worry it's just a sales call, they use a computerized auto dialing system, which should switch the call to the next free Sales person, but sometimes there's nobody free to take the call, so you just get a ghost call.

I really hate that. They let it ring a couple of times & when you answer they cut off, when you 1471 it you cany call it back. I suspect its some dodgy money making scam!!

I had some strange calls a while ago, but BT helped by putting me on caller ID and by rejection of calls from witheld numbers.

Usually call centres, automatically dialling numbers then not able to talk to you as talking to some other cold call.

This is a # frm abroad. It is probably an indian call cent. This is called cold-calling and you can't call them back.

no, sorry. It is really annoying but I think best to let it go...it was probably from telemarketers in India selling mobile phones!
It's never as interesting as you think it might be so probably not worth being bugged over!
