Yesterday someone answered my question by using "M-word". Saying that the word Mexican has become almost a racial slur, so people should us the M word instead of Mexican. Who else thinks the word Mexican is a racial slur? I think that if someone was born in Mexico than they are Mexican right?! Just like if your born in America your an American or in China your Chinese right!! So whats the deal with someone thinking it's racist? Who else thinks the whole thing is insane?

It is their nationality and not a derogatory term. It is ridiculous to use the term "m-word".

People love the word racist. It is the best word to stop people in their tracks when their opponent is kicking there verbal butts.

When someone says the word racist, it really causes concern because unless you believe yourself to be racist, it really just makes you think of groups like the KKK or whatever racial people are of your genetic makeup. But in some racial groups, it is the thing to be a racist because they can get away with it.

As for your question if calling someone who is a Mexican by birth and heritage, a Mexican, it would be silly to consider it a racial slur. This goes back to when the term ni**er was used then *****, to black to African American. I used the term African American the other day and was verbally shot down. This person stated, they had never been to Africa and was born in the US. That makes them an American. I was floored! What is the PC thing to say anymore? It changes like the wind.

Call them Mexican. If you were to us the word **** or *******, I could see them making a complaint.

Too much PC makes it where no one will be able to communicate soon!

Oh jebus. No. Mexican refers to people form Mexico. It is not a racial slur. Unless you are racist and believe there is something negative about all people from Mexicans. Then I can see that those people are using it as a slur. Just like some people use the word French to be a slur.

Hahaha!!!

Mexican is what you call a person who are from Mexico.

Question is, with all the bad publicity their countrymen are doing, will the word Mexican be a racial slur?

I know that Mexicans are being generalized here, so I think their government should do something about it before this thing gets worse.

It's insane. It's PC gone extreem. All I hear is how every word that's used to describe them is "offensive" but they can't figure out what is an "acceptable" term. It would be just as insane for me to say I'm "offended" being called "white", "angelo", "european", "cracker", "gringo", "American", "legal citizen" , "blonde chick" or any other word. Some words are ment as an insult and some are just discriptive. I can't say for 100% that I could go to every Latino person and determine if they were Mexican, Puerto Rican, Cuban, South American etc. Any more than they could look at me and tell if I was English or Irish or Polish or German or a blend because I'm white. Especially since even within their own group there is discrimination. All I can say is if you're "offended" that easily, wear a t-shirt or something, or start being proud of what you are instead of "offended" at everything.

Yes, I think it's insane and stupid for them to be offended by the word. It's definitely NOT a racial slur. If they are from Mexico - they are Mexicans. Plain and simple.

Calling someone Mexican is not a racist term.
If someone is not Mexican it might mean a person is ignorant for calling them Mexican...but racist?...Nah.

My husband is Mexican as well...American now, but Mexican born. It's just like calling him a man...it's not sexist...just a fact that he's a man.

Mexican should not be a racial slur. If a person wishes to use it as a racial slur then they have serious issues.

If you are talking about the same response I saw.. I have to wonder if you are reading your own answers.. it's like you pick stuff out of peoples answers
When he/she was saying the M-word it's because every time someone says deport illegals... everyone automatically starts saying racism against Mexicans... and it's ridiculous.. so he/she was taking the word Mexican out of their response... because seems everyone wants to twist everything around and it's getting old.. live and learn little one... you got a lot of growing up to do- regardless of what your age might be

No one thinks Mexican is a racial slur.
