Evil is a misleading word, spread by the Semitic religons. In truth, there is only knowledge and ignorance. Ignorance should be eradicated. Ignorance is anything that takes you away from God, including attacking other religons and saying their followers will goto hell, which is what the Christians and Muslims do.

A person can be misguided, but never evil.

Who indeed? For what is absolute in a world where everything is based on point of view?

To me evil is an action or intent that is intended to harm another person physically and or mentally. This is the black and white answer.

The whole of it is complex and gray. Because can an evil act be justified for self protection? Does that act become evil or is it good because it may ultimately protect others?
Can anyone think that Hitler believed He was evil? How about Osama Bin Laden? I'm sure that they think they were/are Good. At least from their "point of view".

We are mostly all evils compared to others' eyes. Differences make people think the different ones are evil. It is not "evil" which has to be eradicated, but prejudices and narrow minded judgements. Let's educate the people! Teach them to tolerate each other. Not pretend to be religiously tolerent and attack a religion in a particular way, for eg, the muslim veil. To attack it, this mean they find it evil thing to do, thus creating evil.

First we should know what is evil. It is -
In religion and ethics, Evil refers to the "bad" aspects of the behavior and reasoning of human beings —those which are deliberately void of conscience, and show a wanton desire for destruction. Evil is sometimes defined as the absence of a good which could and should be present; the absence of which is a void in what should be. In most cultures, the word is used to describe acts, thoughts, and ideas which are thought to (either directly or causally) bring about affliction and death —the opposite of goodness, which itself refers to aspects which are life-affirming, peaceful, and constructive. Aspects generally regarded as "Evil" are thought of as immoral, corrupt, corrupting, inhumane, and wicked.

No religion, No God, No nation, No Government, No man, etc., etc., can detect and punish or eradicate the evil. Evil is in ones mind or heart. The person who posses evil should realise it himself and eradicate. The punishment should be taken by oneself i.e. eradicating evil thinking from his mind and by not attempting to do anything. Is it Possible. ??

Yes I agree evil should be eradicated and it will be shortly...and yes I know what book can tell us what evil is....try reading it sometime...you might be surpirsed...It is the Holy Bible the Written Word of God the Father , God the Son and God the Holy Spirit and Jesus is the Living word of God and when He left this earth He sent back "The Comforter' the Spiritual Word of God to lead, guide and direct us...so we too, as His disciples, can help to eradicate evil out of this world.....And I can hardly wait till I get to see the final battle when Jesus takes back this world from evil itself ...Satan and His evil followers..

without evil what is good. a book will guide you to find who u are. a prophet is an example. will u follow a book all the way thru, i think not. ask if u are good, knowing deep inside u will have the answer. u dont have to be a prophet to understand that. not even a prophet knew until he/she has become one. Ask yourself who u are instead! and what is your purpose in this life.

Evil is described in the Bible.

The word "Evil" has a distinct technical and categorical meaning in the Word of God. It is not simply a generic word referring to anything that is bad or sinful.

The word "Evil" refers specifically to the policy of Satan as the ruler of this world. Evil is the modus operandi of Satan from the time of his fall throughout the angelic revolution and down to the point when be became the ruler of the world.

Evil is Satan's system by which he administers the rulership of this world. He uses his world rulership to try to bring about the downfall of Jesus Christ. Failing that, Satan tries to turn as many people away from Christ as possible.

Through Evil, Satan brings about two major consequences on earth: sin and human good (the motivation of Evil), both of which are based on errors in thinking. The sin of self-righteousness combined with human good or sincerity produces a saturation of Evil in a nation.

A great question.

I think humanity together has to decide what is evil. I think there is such a thing as absolute evil, but as humans we cannot define it. We can only experience it, express it, and identify actions that express it.

The denial of evil is the denial of truth.

Only we, as individuals, can decide what constitutes 'evil'. Naturally that can and does differ from person to person, so there are no easy simplistic answers, but that's the way the world is.
