Crimes against children have to be the worst crime to commit in society! I dont understand how a person could molest a child, take away (no steal) the innocence of one and then go home to his or her own family at night. I dont understand how someone could commit incestuous acts with their sons and daughters and then pass it off as genuine love. A so called expression of familial ties. How do you feel about this? Also the men and women that murder their own children or beat them half to death, what causes people to be so evil, to make them treat a fellow human being so cruelly? Is it an inborn evil or a sickness that remained dormant and strikes them at the most inoppurtune time?!!

Any kind of severe child abuse is a crime against everyone. I think it goes far beyond a sickness

I do see it as deviant behavior that requires treatment. But, calling it a sickness absolves the guilty party of all culpability. I think that it can lay dormant in a person's mind and choose to strike them at the least opportune time. However, there has to be some responsibility placed on that person for choosing then to act on his desires which we know are morally abhorrent. I am all for helping that person seek treatment, but there also needs to be some pretty severe consequences. It is proven that it is very difficult, if not nearly impossible, to rehabilitate a child molestor.

I agree with you totally. It is a sickness. It's unnatural and anyone who commits aggravated child rape should be put away for life. Period. There is no cure for these people. We also need to do a much better job of identifying the child rapist and keeping them away from the professions they gravitate towards such as teaching. Sadly a lot of child molestation takes place within the family and psychiatrists need to figure out a way to break that cycle of abuse. Hurting children is unconscionable and exacts a heavy toll on our society, as well all know.

It's not really a sickness in the sense of being a departure from normal health that could be alleviated or cured with medical treatment, so I don't think that's a particularly helpful way of looking at it. A propensity to abuse children should be dealt with in the same kind of way as a propensity to steal, kill, rape, or whatever. Personally I think that incarceration is the only realistic and safe way to deal with paedophiles.

Whateva it is its definatly sick and the person should never be left to walk about in sociaty again! Children deserve better and if there sick enough to do it once there sick enough to do it again! They should lock them up and throw away the key, electric shock treatment and also chopping off there fingers or more, some people are just evil and dont deserve to walk the streets!

I agree with you. There is something mentally wrong with someone who could commit those kinds of atrocities. I don't know how or why they are like that though. If it's something they are born with or what. I don't think pedofiles can ever be rehabilitated either. They should never be released from prison because they'll just get out and do it over and over again.

And also, any sex crime, including molestation, has NOTHING to do with sex or love, it's all about having power and control over the victim.
They should castrate all those sickos so that they can't ever do that to anyone ever again.

Pedophilia is SICK, but it's not a sickness. It's a sexual deviance and the people who are disgusting enough to do it are also pathetic enough to have no self control. Pnemonia is a sickness. Even schizophrenia and bipolar disorder are sicknesses. Pedophilia is NOT a sickness -- it's a crime.

I believe pedophilia is a genetic predisposition as is homosexuality, this in no way excuses it, it can't be tolerated in society, this doesn't mean abused children don't turn out badly they certainly do, they become abusers & even serial killers, but pedophilia & homosexuality are NOT learned behavior,
