The passage you quote instructs us not to "look down" on them, since we're no better than they are. We should not be happy by the trouble they're in.
If we were to be unconcerned, Psalm 122 wouldn't tell us to "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem."
Peace.

The Bible tells us to pray for the peace of Jerusalem, the only case where we are told to pray for peace.
The Bible says Jerusalem shall be a burdensome stone for all people (Zechariah 12:3).
The Bible says "Thou hast multiplied the nation, and NOT increased the joy:" (Isaiah 9:3) and all the new versions remove "NOT".
Israel is being regathered before the joy.

We as Christians must be concerned with Israel. The Word says to pray for the peace in Jerusalem. Israel plays a very important part in God's planning. That nation will not be destroyed.

Be careful not to misinterpret scripture. You must read all of the bible and understand it in its context. No, God never tells us not to be concerned with Israel. On the contrary he tells us to keep our eyes on the Jews and their land. He tells us many signs to be alert to. He tells us when certain things come to pass in Israel we will know the end is near. If you want to learn more about this, listen to Pastor Haggai and/or order his books and videos ....he researches and writes much on this.

In this case the Bible is telling Edomites not to be concerned with Israel's trouble.
Plus, it's not referring to the current state of 'Israel', which is less than 60 years old.

Genesis chapter 12.
The Lord was speaking to Abram about making him a great nation.
3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

We should look down on no one. Obadiah was fulfilled and is not to Christians today except as a guide to what was used as a "schoolmaster" to bring us to Christ Jesus. We should honor all mankind.
