Most times it is caused by bowel problems. It is a very small lymph organ attached at the end of the intestinal wall. If it gets blocked or infection it becomes inflamed and is usually removed. There may be a genetic predisposition to weakened appendix or to bowel problems.

Never heard of a genetic predisposition, appendicitis usually occurs after a foreign object like a finger nail (ugh!) or something enters the appendix and causes an infection. When I had mine removed it had turned gangrenous - yum!

You know I wonder the same question. My dad had his appendix removed because of infection in '93. At the time he lived in SC and I in GA. 2 weeks later TO THE DAY, I had to have mine removed because of infection of the lymph nodes surrounding it. Two years later TO THE DAY in '95, my older brother had to have his removed because of infection to BOTH the appendix and lymph nodes surrounding. His had actually somehow gotten wrapped around the top part of his large intestine. Believe it or not, it happened. I cant explain it, but it is interesting enough to make one wonder how true predisposition is in such things.

Its not genetic so must be caused by either an infection or probably by a certain way of life or diet.

on line DNA attempt? Huh? i could like to appreciate a thank you to get that carried out! individually, it does no longer impact me one way or yet another. Genes might properly be became on or off by ability of a few thing else interior the device. Genes are purely like keys on a piano. that's the style you play them that counts. :-)

The most accepted theory is that its lumen is obstructed by fecal matter which causes infection and inflammation.
