You can buy your postcards anywhere in Rome, even just outside the vatican or from street vendors nearby. The Vatican has its own post office and its own stamps, so, if you buy stamps there, you cannot use them elsewhere in Italy.

Yes, you can buy postcards and send them from the Vatican's own post office - not sure that it will be any faster or slower than for the rest of Italy, but only at the Vatican's post office can you get a Vatican stamp - you won't get one anywhere else. So maybe that's something special to do for people you are sending the post cards to....

If you are talking about the Vatican city then the answer is yes. THe stamps though are Italian stamps. The vatican does not issue its own.

Yep, there's a post office to the left site of the Basilic! same costs as in Italy just the stamps have different draws.... and it's true that is quick than the italian post office!
