you all Need to stop doing this meeting people online. but if you fell you just cant live without meeting this person, take your dad with you. If that doesnt feel right to you; it probably isnt right at all. As to how long it should take; this could be a life or death decision. How soon are you ready to make one of those. Think about it.

If you are going to do it no matter what people say, I would keep talking for a few months. Talk on the phone, get his real name etc (do a background check on him-I'm serious you never know), and when you do meet, meet in a group setting, with people you trust. Don't go home with him either.

you should wait at least a month because MS isn't a real safe place to meet someone and when you do meet that person make sure someone knows where you're going and with whom.

You should meet them immediately, and NOT alone. Go out with a group, and go home with a friend...NOT with that person.
If they live far away, you need to meet and decide whether it is worth one of you moving. Long distance relationships don't work.
I would strongly recommend that you do not bother meeting anyone EVER that you meet on the net.

if your a girl , not so good an idea. but arrange it so you look out for him. looks weird can always back off .
guy, do let the gir feel safer and let her spot you .
timing wise , 6 mths ? really depends on how you talk ,tone etc .. ever try web cam or calling and talking on the phone ?
remember ppl may not seem like what they are on the net and in real life .
