I live in Hull, and unfortunately, when you buy fish and chips from here, there is skin left on the fish. Not just a few bits, but the whole of one side is just skin. And lets face it, its minging.
I would like you all to tell me where you live and whether or not they leave the skin on the fish in your part of the world.
I may consider moving house!!!!!

Well I'm from the south (Mobile, AL) and we eat the skin on. To us that's the best part, but we can get fish with it either on or not. We have a place downtown where a cook came from England and he opened up a fish and chip restaurant. Its great, and of course the skin is off. I like it either way.

Here in Louisiana the skin is left on the fish unless it's catfish. The skin is only removed from catfish because it's tough and absolutely horrible, much worse that the skin of any other fish.

Fish 'n' chips is best served in London. Naturally. It depends on how they cook it. If its cooked well then the skin sticks to the paper and peels off before you eat it. Try cooking your own in tin foil in the oven for about 20 mins it comes out great!!!
Oh set the gas so that its real hot like a gas mark 7.
Or move to London!!!

I live in Texas, and I get fish and chips every chance I get. I love it. Its my favorite. But every place I have ever gone has never left the skin on. If they did, I dont think I would like it so much.

Most places leave it on. And have you noticed that since chip shops are not longer run by greasy middle aged white people most of them no longer sell really good chips, you know the nice crispy golden kind which aren't still dripping oil and are hot? All chips from chip shops now are normally either soggy or brown cos they've been kept warm too long!!!
