I was wondering why so many ppl on her bash people ppl who believe in God, I mean what are they hurting by believeing in God, I understand there are plenty of fundies out there, but for the most part people who have a strong faith, like myself are hurting know one, it pains me when I see quesitons like "your foolish for believeing" and so on. My point is that religious people for the most part have good hearts and really don't harm anyone else.

The thing is, most people go about quietly enjoying their religion, having good hearts and not harming or pushing it on anyone else.... but the people who DO shove it down other's throats or get crazy with it happen to be the loudest and most outspoken, so that's what everyone hears and reacts against.

The other problem is that many people seem to see religion and science/logic as opposing forces - if you believe in creationism you can't believe in evolution, if you use scientific principles you can't accept miracles, etc. When, really, they should complement and strengthen each other, and there is room for both in an enlightened mind and spirit.

So I think they're not trying to bash religion or religious people per se, but just the people who take it too far.
peace out!

Really don't harm anyone else? You have got to joking? You realize that more people have died in the name of religion than for any other reason in history? Ma be you yourself have never pushed your beliefs on anyone. But you are a member of a religion that does. That is like saying I am a member of the National Rifle Association, but I don't own a rifle. Are you honestly going to say that the bible doesn't say you should spread the word of god? Which is basically a nice way of saying, find a group of people that are not Christians and try and get them to believe. If that isn't pushing your religion on others I would like to know what is. How many times have christian groups influenced laws in this county? One example for you. If it were not for christian groups in this country gays would be allowed to get married. Not that I am gay, just trying to make a point. The worst part about it is that there are people like you that live their lives with their eyes closed and feign ignorance to how they affect others. You might not push your religion on others but you support people in positions of christian power that do. Which is basically the same thing. That is like saying I don't bring drugs into this country I just sell them. If it weren't for the people willing to sell the drugs on the streets people wouldn't bring them into the country. Everyone makes a difference no matter how small. If that wasn't true no one would vote. So ma be you should think about that the next time you say I never push my religion on anyone. You most certainly do if you are a christian as you say.

There's nothing wrong with *believing* in God. But there is something wrong with those who push their religion on others. I think what most non-Christians run into are a lot of the Christians who do believe they need to push it on everyone else. So, unfortunately, the people who've been bothered by zealots end up having a negative attitude toward Christians in general.

I thank you for being both strong in your faith and not pushing it on to other. I'm also sorry for anything I might have said or that others might have said to hurt you. I view being strong in ones faith to be a blessing, but I too also get hurt by those who say I am of a fake religion or I am wrong and are going to hell.

I wish only for people to educate them self before judging someone else. As a Wiccan I believe in harming no one, and as Christians you believe in peace and acceptance. I am hurt when you don't accept me. I am hurt when you tell me I'm going to hell, when I don't believe in hell. I am not going to judge you for what you believe and please don't place judgment on me, for don't you believe that only God can do that. Who are we to judge? As some like to say.

I am again sorry for your pain and I hope that others will use you as an example of what they should do. The world would be a more peaceful place if everyone stop judging others.

To me there is nothing wrong with simply believing the way you choose to believe. In fact, I am more likely to respect you for not shoving a faith I do not agree with down my throat. There is nothing wrong with teaching one religion over another, the problem only occurs when one is right and the rest are wrong regardless of what you might learn. One person even said "it is all the same path, just different ways of looking at it." People who can accept that without feeling like their faith is challenged are ones I wish to talk to about religion. Ones who find that offensive, I think, need to look at themselves and their faith again.

I'd say your not a good Christian if your not trying to convert others. Isn't that in the 10 commandments? You shall have no God before me? Spread the love of Jesus so that all can get into heaven, right?

Believing is fine but a lot of organized religions have that clause in there about pushing the faith.

Those with strong religious beliefs tend to vote based on their beliefs. This puts elected officials into office with similar religious beliefs. These elected officials enact legislation and pass laws which also reflect these beliefs, and these laws effect everyone regardless of their religion. So to say that your own religious beliefs are affecting no one is not exactly true.

Nothing is wrong with believing in God. Hebrews 11:6 says: "Moreover, without faith it is impossible to please [him] well, for he that approaches God must believe that he is and that he becomes the rewarder of those earnestly seeking him." James 2:19 reads: "You believe there is one God, do you? You are doing quite well. And yet the demons believe and shudder."

I'm going to thumb up your question because I believe it is one of the most relevant of today's world.

Most people here are either strong believers in a particular faith or athiests.

It's not foolish to believe in something. In fact, it's faith that makes each of us crawl out of bed each morning. It's either faith in ourselves, the goodness of others or a supreme being that makes it worth it all.

I believe those who mock 'believers' are mocking those who don't thoroughly challenge their own belief system, those who don't 'test the spirits' to see if something is truly from God.

For example, Jesus never said he was going to send a book of apostolic letters to lead the believers, he said he was going to send the Spirit, who will reveal all things. So, if we choose to believe something, it should be because God's Spirit has laid it on our hearts to believe it, not because Rev. Jones said it so it must be true.

Most professing 'believers' are foolish for believing the worlds of other men. But that doesn't make faith in and of itself bad or foolish. It doesn't diminish the need for belief in our lives. In fact, the very fact that so many people are being led on a wide path to destruction supports the very necessity of belief, personal belief.

So, continue walking a narrow road on your own, don't be too excited about joining any other group's journey or converting others to your path. Because we all have our own narrow path to walk.

There's a good chance, if someone is telling you... "No, God said you must be wrong", that they are following a wide road to destruction. Don't let them pull you off your personal path nor tell them they should be on yours. Everyone who gets to Life gets their on a narrow path, but not necessarily the same one.

Nothing. In fact, this is what I would prefer that you believe but not try to shove it down my throat. I'm a completely live and let live person. Except for child molestation, bestiality, and hurting others and our environment, I don't care what other people do or believe!
