It's part of a solution. I don't understand why they can say "non-smokers", "no pets", "adults only", "section 8", "male roommate", "female roomate", "credit check required", and a host of other limits or requirements but you shouldn't require legal status? Alot of this issue is because they have 30 adults in a 2 bedroom house which breaks housing rules. What on earth more damage can a smoker with a small dog cause, that 30 adult men wouldn't? I've lived in apartments where you were allowed 1 vehicle, visitors for no more than 1 week without paying more money or getting kicked out. They can fine me coz my grass gets too long but they won't enforce the "junk car" code without being called "discriminating" Smoking cigarettes isn't against the law yet being in this country is. A yorkie puppy isn't a dangerous dog and simply couldn't do more lawn damage that 15 drunk guys doing their duty on the front lawn. My kid screaming in the back yard isn't keeping the entire neighborhood up till the wee hours of the morning. I don't see how it's fair to have legal citizens be limited in a variety of ways but you're not supposed to be able to limit people who aren't supposed to be here to begin with.

I have been trying to see the advantage of this to help curb illegal immigration. The most important thing that can be done is not denying some one housing. Its denying them employment. If you stop employers and company's from hiring the illegals then you can put a stop to the problem of illegal immigrants.
Go after the company's MAKE them
responsible for their part in this problem..With out the dangling carrot of employment, they will not flock to this country. We are not placing the full blame on big business where it belongs. And at the feet of any one that knowingly hires an illegal to do any job.We need to secure our borders yes but we need to enforce the existing laws against the hiring of illegals.Enforce them with zero tolerance.Punish them with fines, and prison time for their disregard for the law. Then, and only then, you will see a difference in the number of illegals coming to this country

I live in South Carolina . They are buying homes. Renting whole trailer parks. And taking over whole neighborhoods. I think taking away jobs would work far better than taking away housing. Enforce the laws on the books and make the penalties stiffer for hiring them.

Only if every city passes an ordinance that forbids renting to illegal aliens. Otherwise, they'll just go to the next city over.

M sorry but they are going to have to try harder to stop them from crossing over... how many of them are here?? with the border patrol and immigration officers trying their best to keep them out, there are still so many here!!!
I highly doubt it, because they will go somewhere else. And maybe move next door to many of the people that hate them...
too bad

I doubt it. Most illegals come from poverty. They know hardship. Also, we have plenty of people in this country that will aid and abet anybody for a price. How do you think so many illegals have drivers licenses and fake social security cards?

Yes. And the banking community should be more stringent on giving out loans for both mortgages and businesses to illegal aliens as well.

It is one step. We also have to stop employers from hiring them. If they know there are no jobs or anywhere for them to live, I think the number of people coming over illegally will drop.

In theory, but then the ACLU screams discrimination. We need to have a unified effort at the border to stop illegals. No one says you can't become an American just do it legally.
