make sure you have a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner, but also one that will clean all the build up off your scalp so the conditioner can do its job.
only blow dry when you have to this is drying to hair and scalp.
an antihistamine 4 allergies stops itch and will give you some temporary relief until you can get you scalp healthy.
an excellent over the counter treatment is called Bakers P & S liquid , apply this to scalp B-4 bed time put on a shower cap and in the morning wash hair as usual.
also olive oil can sooth scalp dryness, just rub some into scalp and wait at least 10 min. longer if possible, and shampoo as usual

It depends on what type of hair you have. If you have Caucasian hair, you may want to cut down on the amount of times a week you wash your hair and use a shampoo like selsun blue, Neutrogena T-Gel or Nizoral. Nizoral works the best. If you have African American hair you can use the same shampoos but add a hair oil to the scalp like doo grow for itchy and dry scalp or root stimulator products. Lastly if you are doing all you can and the problem persists, you should see a dermatologist because you could have psoriasis or eczema, especially since you said that you never used to have this problem.

sometimes a change in weather can cause dry skin- start using a good dandruff shampoo, also, tonight when you get home, put some curel on your scalp, let it soak in for at least 2 hours and then wash your hair with your dandruff shampoo. It should take care of the itch.

First of all, stop using cheap shampoos. You need a shampoo which does not leave behind any shampoo that builds up on your scalp thus causing dandruff. I wash my hair daily and use an expensive shampoo - I never have any dandruff problems. At one time, due to finances, I used a cheap shampoo and it caused tons of problems.

Sounds like dry skin. Increase the amount of fluid/water in your diet. Go to the pharmacy and ask for a recommendation for the best OTC for dry scalp. You may not have dandruff, rather seborrhea.

If the problem continues for several weeks, seek help from your family physician or a dermatologist.

My scalp started doing that when the cold weather came thru my area.
I'm using an anti-dandruff shampoo which helps, but you have to use it everyday for relief.

Head and Shoulders works great...I use the dry scalp formula. Also, any green tea shampoo works good too!

Could just be the weather changing. It could be a lot of things. Poison ivy, psoriasis, head lice. Buy some kind of anti-itch shampoo until you get to the docs.

Head and Shoulders or you could just try a hot oil treatment. Its winter time, so your scalp could just be dry.
