If you are using any of the cheap flea medication, it wont work. Try a product like Advantage or Frontline, sold at Petco or online at Petshed.com. Usually within a few days that will take care of the fleas. If not, you may need to give kitty a flea bath. Contact your local groomer or vets office for the proper way to apply these products, if you use them wrong you can make the cat sick. Also, you may have to flea bomb your home. The petstore employees are very good at explaining the proper way to do this, especially at this time of year. Even indoor pets can get fleas, they are really persistant in the fall. Good luck.

Some medications kill the fleas on the cat as well as surrounding areas. Products like Frontline or Advantage are great for that. Your other option is a spray you can spray around the house, on furniture, etc, it can be found in the sections where you buy flea powders and can be found (in Australia anyhow) in the supermarket.
Failing that, take your cat away for the day and flea bomb the house or get it fumigated (the house, not the cat, ha ha!). Treat the cat while you are out and if you decide to get it fumigated, all fleas will be gone from the house and the kitty will also be flea free.
Remember to constantly wash kitties bedding as well.

OK. This is what I did when we had a really bad flea infestation in home and in our cats:
1) Bought Advantage at the vets for each of our cats and smeared that at the back or scruff of their necks. We were told Advanatge gurantees that fleas will die off your cat in less than 7 hours (and we found that this was true). Each application works for 30 days.
2). Vacuumed the house real well. And did this every other day.
3) Washed all the beddings in the house (human and animal) in very warm soapy water.
4) Sprayed the patio, carpets, furniture, blinds, cracks in walls with Sargeant's anti-flea spray.
5). Sprinkled baking soda upon the grounds near the patio.
6) Got rid of old mats.
By the second week, we were completely flea-free.
It requires a lot of vigilance and effort, but being flea-free is its own reward.

Take him to get flea dipped and then flea bomb your house. Clean real well when you get home. Even outdoor cats can be flea free. I've had several cats over the years, and only once had a flea problem. Did the above and presto! No more little varmints.

Perhaps your flea problem lies in your home..often they will lay their eggs in the cracks along the walls near the floor. As they hatch they will find there way back onto your animal. There is a product out there which kills the eggs of the fleas as well as the flea itself, however, if you choose to let your cat out you subject it to many dangers including fleas and death. Perhaps you should keep it indoors.

haven't you noticed fleas inside your house?
so maybe it's an outdoor cat.
you need to do a big clean up of your yard and especially where your cat sleeps, because the fleas are getting straight back on.
in the meantime, it would be nice if you brushed your cat.
that will get rid of some of the fleas.

if its an indoor cat and has fleas you can use speaical medicines from the vet, maybe over the counter....all u do is pour it onto there back and let it soak in, and to make sure its working lay a white sheet underneath it and see how many fleas fall off of her..!
If its an outdoors cat, well its alomst inpossible to keep it flea free...
if all else fails call your vet.

Wash him with flea shampoo, then be sure to wash all of his bedding (or whatever he sleeps on) and treat your house for fleas. You may have to do this a couple of times since they lay eggs.
