It may not be your shoes, you may need arch support inserts.

Several years ago my metatarsal arches were falling and the balls of my feet hurt all the time.
While trying to buy some better shoes at the Birkenstock store they told me they sold the arch support insert. I tried a pair, they are hard with fabric on the surface. At that time they were $47.00 and I have worn this same pair in my tennis shoes and running shoes for about 7 years. You can throw them in the washer to clean them.

The have totally corrected the fallen arch problem and I have no foot pain at all.

They will slip into any enclosed shoes (not sandals). I have been thoroughly satisfied.
Hope this helps.

Know your pain! I wear keen shoes these days. My arch is high, and I tend to pronate. For sandals I wear Chaco. I used to use arch support but found that they were causing other problems by affecting how I walked. You may have to get a special foot bed made by a foot doctor(runs around 300 and is covered by most insurance) Oh and Clarks are great shoes too. Don't wear cheap shoes, Buy the best you can afford, and only have a few pairs. I don't have many shoes, but the ones i have are painfree. I was once so crippled by foot pain, I would be choking back tears at the end of the day.Hope this helps. Good luck with that! I think the insoles Samm is talking about are called Superfeet, and yes theyt actually do work
