No, they didn't start using surnames until Roman times. Luke might've had a last name, but the Bible doesn't say what it is. I know this because the apostle Peter was actually Simon Peter, Peter being his last name. Also, the Bible writer Mark was actually John Mark, but he used his last name
so he wouldn't be confused with John the apostle.

They were well known for by their first names. No last names recorded in the bible that I have found.

last names are more modern inovation. usually a person was named based on where they were from. hence, Jesus of nazareth. or after their father.. i.e. Simon bar (son of) jonah
