I think it would only cause them emotional trauma if they were forced to hold it until they wet themselves.

Who's making the child hold their pee? I think the trauma would only happen if they peed their pants. What do you mean by long time? I drive a school bus and sometimes kids have to pee while out on the route. They have to hold it there is no choice. But I have never heard of any of those students having an emotional trauma over it. I suppose physical things can happen if they hold the pee too long. However, most children would wet their pants before it got that bad.

Not sure on Trauma. But, I know it not feel good. I would assume a small child would just pee their pants if it got hurting too much. Plus they may not have the muscle control to hold it long. I think someone mentioned "embarrassment". This may be a result and also ridicule from other children, if, they around and see. We can assume from ridicule a child could be emotionally hurt. What the long term effects would be depends on how the situation is approached with an Adult helping the child work through the Trauma of Ridicule. It may be forgotten in time or it may even cause the child to have a hard time peeing in the future as he/she try to hold it more making it harder to relax the muscle. Hope you understand?

I'm sure that it can cause a great deal of emotional trauma if it leads to the child having an accident. Children like to tease and don't easily forget things like that.
Just as important though is the physical impact that this can have on the body. Holding urine in your bladder for long periods of time can lead to bladder infections and urinary tract infections. Also, keep in mind that your kidneys are designed to filter toxins from your body and release them through the urine. If a person holds there urine for a prolonged period of time and the bladder is completely full those toxins can potentially back up into the kidneys and cause serious problems. If this is happening at school I would have some stern words with the teacher and principle. If talking to them doesn't work you may have to take it further to the school district.

I don't think it causes any emotional trauma unless the teacher is being mean to the child about it, or if it causes the child to wet them self's, in which case I would be down at the school kicking a teachers @ss. How ever, it can cause damage to the child's blatter, or give them a blatter infection if done often, or for long periods. A little unknown fact, it is ILLEGAL to not allow a child to use the rest room at school for those reasons. If the school is making your child "hold it", I would go in and have a talk with his or her teacher, Because if they do end up wetting them self's at school, that could cause lots of emotional trauma, not to mention it's grounds for a law suit.

Our bodies weren't designed to hold their pee for long periods of time. I used to get urinary tract infections in school all the time because the teachers wouldn't allow anyone to use the bathroom other than at certain times of the day. My mom finally had to get a doctor's note and talk to my teachers.
I don't think there would be much emotional trauma involved in "holding it in," but there would be a heck of a lot if they had an "accident" in front of their whole class.

i dont know that it caused me any emotional trauma but it was very bad for my bladder. When I was about 14 or so I was riding in the car with my cousin and her boyfriend and he wouldn't pull over and let me go to the restroom. I am now 24 and have to take medicine twice a day to keep my bladder from leaking.

I don't think it causes any emotional trauma, unless the child is being forced by someone just out of meaness. But, holding it can cause bladder infections.

Your question is very vague!- No age of the child - no contributing factors - is a habit of the child? Is the child being told to do this?I will give you the correct answer(s), but for now, no one can honestly answer this question, simply because, none of the answers will be correct without ALL the information! One thing for sure - he will eventually have SERIOUS KIDNEY PROBLEMS, if this "habit" continues. When the kidneys' fail, you DIE! PERIOD!!!

I have a horrible memory from lower elementary school...I was in class and had asked the teacher to allow me to the restroom, the teacher didn't allow me to leave. I eventually peed in my pants, in addition to having to call my mom for clean clothes the teacher had the nerve to ask me if I felt better. To answer your question, how do you feel when you cannot use the restroom, also it isn't good on anyones kidney or bladder. How do you suppose we get bladder and kidney infections?
