I have a really close friend who i have known for a couple of years, and i don't know why but shes started slitting her wrists and the back of her hand with sharpener blades. Shes does it in lessons right infront of me. And it really worries me.
Just the other day, my other friend was in serious trouble for doing the same thing, a teacher saw her and called home and now her parents dont treat her the same and she may have to go to a mental home. What should i do? I dont want my friend ending up like my other friend. Please help me? What should i do to help her?

Your friend needs help and if a mental hospital is where she needs to be to get the help then I suggest you help get her there. I rather visit my friend in the mental hospital where she can get help then visit her grave.
Good Luck.

If she gets help now, and she just started, it is highly unlikely that she will be sent to a mental institution. She might need brief hospitalization, but it would be very short-term, and most people do not get hospitalized for this. She would most likely go to a counselor, and possibly be put on some medication. She needs to get help right away -- I just wanted to ease your mind that the chances of her being sent to some kind of home are very slim.

TELL AN ADULT
Self-harm (SH) or Self-injury (SI) is deliberate injury inflicted by a person upon his or her own body. Some scholars use more technical definitions related to specific aspects of behavior. This injury may be aimed at relieving otherwise unbearable emotions, sensations of unreality and numbness, or for other reasons. Self-harm is generally a social taboo. It is listed in the DSM-IV-TR as a symptom of Borderline Personality Disorder and is sometimes associated with mental illness, with a history of trauma and abuse, with eating disorders, or with mental traits such as low self-esteem or perfectionism. There is a positive statistical correlation between self-harm and emotional abuse

I know its hard being put in this kind of situation. i know you care about your friend a lot but you need to tell someone like her parents or a teacher at school whats going on. you dont wont her to hurt herself really bad and end up in the hospital when you could have prevented it. it sounds like your friend needs help really bad so please get her some she thank you in the long run you might just save her life.

self-harming is the outward expression of a lot of problems that your friend may be keeping from you. your friend needs to see a psychologist who can help her understand why she feels the need to do this....it's not just a quick fix. i think as a friend i would encourage her to seek help for herself, and let her know that you love her and you're there for her whenever she needs you. tell her she can call you anytime if she's having problems or just wants to talk. i dont think she should be "getting in trouble" for cutting - a teacher would be wrong to punish her for that - because of the fact that i dont think she knows what to do about cutting herself - it's due to a mental health problem, and punishing her for it will just make her feel guilty for it and hate herself more (which will make her want to cut more).

Oh Sweetie, Your friend needs help that unfortunatly you are'nt qualified to give. The best that you can do for her is to encourage her to seek couseling, She obviously is in alot of pain over something in her life. Maybe she would be comfortable enough with you, to confide in you, then together you could find the proper help.Mosy importantly, just let her know that you are there for her and that you understand.

She needs help before she kills herself. she is doing this as an outcry for help. she has some serious issues and needs to get them worked out before she does serious harm.
check out this site and share it with her parents.

you are being a good friend and trying to help her.

try talking to her but do it gently because whenever my friends et on my back for selfharming i get really annoyed and just start doing it more and more. i was selfharming for a year. i also think that if she does it in front of you she is probobly just asking from attention.
