Since I have been on this site, I have heard many scriptures quoted, and for the most part they read like poetry. It know where
at all states that christians are the salt of the earth, or that muslims for example must be born again to enter the kingdom of heaven. In fact I see no religion stated, but the word man, which applies to everyone(us)
DO YOU THINK THAT THE BIBLE HAS MANY METAPHORICAL MEANINGS TRUE TO EACH AUTHOR(THE PROPHETS) AND ALSO THOSE WHO READ IT, AND FOLLOW IT?

all ya have to do is count how many sects there are within the three major Abrahamic religions to see that "holy scripture" is ALWAYS open to interpretation. when groups disagree with an interpretation they schism and start yet another sect, imagining themselves to be they ones that truly understand what this or that verse means. i consider it a indication of personal or collective character how any given person or sect interprets holy writ to their own advantage..

The bible has been changed and altered so many times to fit the needs of each different author that there is no longer any truth to it. Or if there is the truth has been hidden so deeply that you can't find it. It's a story just as people say and beautiful old story, with little fact thrown in. For when you change something to fit what you believe cause you don't like what it says you are going from fact to fiction and over the years that is what has happened to the bible.
I'm a Wiccan but I still find it very sad that there are no original bible left for I believe that if there were the christian people would not be so quick to judge me and others like me. I also believe that if the Christians would open their eyes and knew their history better they would find that we are not horrible devil worshipers and that we knew nothing of the devil or hell till they used it to scare us into repenting our so called sins. Which is in their bible. I'm sadden also by the amount of hate that you can find in the bible, and the amount of hate christian direct at people of different faiths.
I hope I helped in some way to open peoples minds and eyes.
Blessed be.

no. its not a text you can read and then pick the parts you liek and make them mean anything you what. what good is that? yuo can do that with any text. the fact of the matter is, the bible will not be real for a person until the Holy spirit makes it real for the individual. otherwise, it reads just liek any other piece of ancient literatue or a newspaper for tat matter. but it was the same with Christ. many people looked at jesus and saw a human being and hear a human being. others recognised him as God and his words as truth. its not a relativistic free for all. the holy spirit must speak

Read it for yourself. It is a book. It is meant to be read like a book. Start at the beginning just like you would any other book, then read it all the way through. It has a storyline that it follows. Too many people read little snippets here and little snippets there, and have never read through the whole book, resulting in all kinds of wild theological ideas based soley on what they think the little snippets mean.

Those who follow God and Jesus are considered the salt of the earth and it is in the bible.
Matthew 5:13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
All people must be born again according to the word of God. And this is stated in the bible...
John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
I believe that you are lost and do not have Jesus in your life and you live in the confusion of this lost and darkened world of sin. Accept Jesus as your savior, and you will brought out of that darkness and into Jesus lighted way.
