if you were blonde from the salon then you dyed it darker (brown?) by yourself, then to get it back to blonde again it will need to be bleached and/or stripped. This will ruin your hair. I had hair way past the bottom of my shoulder blades and dyed it blonde - disaster - had it all cut short back and sides as it just fell apart from the home (crap) chemicals. DO NOT try to do it at home. Your hair went copper because the home colorant wasn't a high enough strength peroxide.

Once you put a dark coloour over a light color, you HAVE to bleach it to get it back lighter, as a tint color will not lift (lighten) another tint. Please go to a professional, it doesn't have to be expensive. Ask around your friends and co-workers, especially for a colorist who works from home, they are always cheaper.

I used to go to a salon and she was $200 for a colour and cut. I now go to a lady who works from her own home and is a complete whizz with color problems and fixed me right up for $35.

Hi,
Sorry to hear about your bad dye job. When I was in high school, a similiar thing happened to me. My hair is medium brown with golden highlights. When I was in high school, I kept a medium auburn dye on it. Once I went into the drug store to purchase some more medium auburn dye and they were temporarily out so I decided to go blonde. I picked the lightest shade of blonde that Toni (the home permanent people--they used to make hair coloring in the 60s) made. I looked at the color guide on the side of the box to see what the blonde color would look like on medium brown hair and there was not a bit of change so I decided to purchase a hair lightener and have Mama lighten my hair and then put the blonde dye on. Mama lightened my hair. My hair turned RED. Really red, like copper. We couldn't believe how red my hair turned! Mama went to the drug store and told the clerk what happened and she (Mama) came back home with some medium brown hair dye which I didn't want but she put it on anyway and this got rid of the red.

I have read some of the other answers and I agree that if possible, you should see a stylist
who specializes in coloring hair and does it
correctly and whose customers love her work.
If this isn't possible, I suggest that you pur-
chase hair dye that is a close to your natural
shade as possible. Also, after you put on the
new dye, you should deep condition your hair.
Clairol makes a deep conditioning product. It
does not add any color--just deep condition-
ing. Good luck!

I think you need to see someone that specializes in color correction. I remember your first question and wasn't that a hair stylist that told you to use the medium blond? I had a feeling that would not work. I don't know what color you want your hair. A demi permanent color might work to tone down the red because it only deposits color. I don't think you should try it yourself though. Go see a a color specilist. I don't mean a regular stylist either, just because someone knows how to cut hair doesn't mean they know color really well. I've had my color screwed up at salons by a regular stylist. Good luck

First of all you want to get as much of the color out as possible. Do a wash, by using 2oz of peroxide and 2oz of distilled water and two oz of shampoo. leave on your hair for 20 minutes, then rinse out and shampoo and use a good conditioner dry your hair. Then re- die your hair. I don't know what color you are going for blond? Try a darker shade of Blond like Brown/blond by Clairol, but don't leave it on for the full 20 min. check every 10 min. by using a dry paper towel and wiping a small patch. I'd say 15 min. should do it. the rinse and shampoo again that should help get the red out.You should use 10% peroxide by using 20 % developer and distilled water. 2 oz of each. when re-coloring your hair. Please avoid any ash shades as your hair may turn green! You can get the peroxide in a beauty supply store. this is professional advice.

I would most definitely go to the hair place and them you want your moeny back and ask them what you can do. They may not because you already re-dyed it.

I used a treatment from a drugstore it stips the color from your hair. It will leave it a kind of orange color but you have to recolor. I would try the creams because your hair is going to be fried from all the coloring!

But really you are already into this financially so i suggest go and spend a lot of money on it professionally at a salon if you REALLY hate it.

You definately need to go to another professional and have them fix it. I've had tons of bad self dye expierences. When I was 13 my best friend tried to dye mine a strawberry blonde color (i'm a natural blonde) and it came out this dark cranberry color and I had blonde spots! It was horrible. I know exactly how you feel.

First and foremost you are frying your hair and you need to have patience as I had suggested before. That said, after a while, you can color your hair darker, but you cannot go any lighter. Also, stay away from Clairol products. The best hair colors are Loreal and Garnier Nutrisse.

Go to a professional to get the hair repaired. Do not try to attempt the change yourself. If you cannot afford to, then call a professional to ask how do you fix the problem.

instead of trying to keep fixing it yourself and continuing to damage your hair, go to a nice stylist that knows how to do coloring correction. they will probably either dye your hair darker to get rid of all the bad dye job, or they might try to stip the hair color out and then dye it. don't bother speding money constantly on trying to fix it yourself.
