No, they don't pay past student loans. And if all you care about is furthering your education through military service, don't bother applying. You won't be given much time initially to do college. Most military people don't attend courses within the first 2-3 years because they are too busy learning the job and progressing in it and possibly serving overseas. Education benefits are pretty much reserved for those who have served at least the first 4 years and more. Remember' you earn benefits.

Air Force you have to score very high on the ASVAB first. SMART people go to the Air Force and dont have to do the dirty work like the army, navy, or marines. Thats why the army, navy, and marines cant stand the Air Force because they dont have to do any real combat most of the jobs are just office jobs but they are important jobs none the less. My brother is in the airforce hes in tech school right now he did very well on the ASVAB. He is going to go to school when he gets done and yes they do pay for you to go school I guess they can pay for your student loans

woah, hold on a sec, hon. joining any branch of the armed forces is not something that should be taken lightly, this is a huge life changing decision. take your time with this. keep in mind that if you decide to join, it's highly likely that you're going to have to spend the majority of the next few years away from your family and loved ones. not to mention that we're not through with iraq yet, and it's likely that a war with iran will soon follow. are you prepared to face combat? if you don't feel like you're capable of doing the things that are necessary in a war situation, then it's not a good idea to get into the military. before you make your decision, just be sure to think about how this decision will affect the rest of your life, not just your financial situation. best of luck!

It's doubtful they will pay student loans not previously agreed to, however there may be an incentive program that offers some assistance towards this.

In any case, the armed forces needs fresh blood! Go, do your part. God Bless!

talk to a recruiter. The Army or the Marines have the better deals. The Air Force is exceeding their recruiting numbers and may not have as many programs.

I was is the Army, and they will pay your past loans. Also, you have the ability to make the recruiter your *****, so to speak, tell them you want a bonus, choice of duty station, and your loans paid off. They can do that. If they try to tell you they can't, ask for their C.O.'s number and tell them that you'll just ask their boss. Also, the Army is filled with little loopholes that make it easy to get out early if you want!!!

for starters, this is absolutely the wrong reason to join the military. you join because you feel duty to your country and this is the way you choose to do it.
secondly, marines are part of the navy, not a branch in and of themselves.

so no, i don't think you should join, and no they will not just pay off your student loans, they loan you to pay the loan and it is reflected in your LES.

No they will not pay your past loans only what you do in the future.

Go into the Coast Guard.

Yes, the military can pay your student loans, up to a certain amount, if you qualify, and enlist in the appropriate career field.
