Turn a banana on it's side and it looks like a smile, yellow is the colour of the sun which makes people smile so that is why banana's are yellow Harry

When not ripe the pigment in the Banana is more Chlorophyll Prominent...which is green in color. and when it gets the needed sunlight for its ripening the chlorophyll suppresses its activities and other group of pigments in the cells called the Anthocyanins will start to show its color yellow.

dear harry sometimes bananas are green not yellow do you know why because the yellow ones are ripe
