I love Sushi but that doesn't mean I eat the raw stuff. I like the one's that are deep fried. There is a lot to choose from and it doesn't have to be raw. i have tried some of the raw stuff but didn't like the taste of it.

Think of it this way- it is the 'raw fish' part that freaks most people out, but much sushi is at least partially cooked, and you often eat raw fish anyway- sardines and canned tuna.

Another point is that each small piece of sushi only holds a little of the meat, whatever it is!

We Americans are oddly particular about food- of the millions of kinds of meat and plants, we only eat a small handful that our great, great ancestors ate.

Of the stuff we DO eat, it is not usually primarily an issue of taste, but how easy is it to grow, store, ship, and prepare. Isn't it weird that the meal on your plate was chosen more by the food corporations for their profit then it was by you for taste?

I try to have it every week if I can. It is very good, but very subtle tastes for the most part. A lot of it is actually cooked or at least marinated...ever had lox & cream cheese on a bagel?? Guess what? That is uncooked salmon.
People mainly have a problem with the texture, but it is good & better for you than fat burgers & french fries...

Yes. Try sashimi first before you try sushi. Or if you have a chance, try California Maki (pretty easy to eat - has a slice of mango). Don't have cola if you're eating Japanese food, get a fruit shake instead.

Maybe you want to try beef carpaccio in the future too. :)

There are so many varieties that you will find something you like.

And not all sushi is uncooked.

Tell the chef to give you a sampler of both, and see if you like it.

I had sushi in Tucson and it wasn't bad. Of course, me and the guys I was with were swilling Jap beer and Saki so fast they could have served us horseshit on a ritz and we would have eaten it.
