A Munchkin is a cat with disporportionately short legs & is the result of a spontaneous genetic mutation ... a bit like Dwarfs in humans.

They're not recognised by the GCCF in this country but TICA (The International Cat Association) has recognised them as a new breed.

I think all the breeders are in America & so, if you really wanted one then you'd have to import one.


The link below is to the website of a breeder that I think, will ship to the UK ... not sure though. You wouldn't get a kitten as the breeder would have to keep it with her for at least six months before it could be brought into the country ... but still, better six months with the breeder than six months in quarantine.


There are loads of other beautiful cats & kittens available & in the UK ... curly ones, ones with folded ears & even bald ones, if you want to be really different. If you decide to forgo your dream, why not try Kittenlist to find a kitten or cat near you?
