It takes a special spanner wrench to remove the back. They can be purchased at Harbor Freight for about $5.00.

It is best to take your watch to have the battery changed. Sometimes the back of the battery can become slightly bent from trying to take the back off, or you will get the back off and cannot press hard enough to put the watch back on. Sometimes you can break the crystal on the front of the watch. Believe me, it is more trouble than it is worth, since you can damage the watch. If they damage it, they have to repair it or replace it. Even Walmart will put the battery in for you if you buy it there, and all jewelry places who change batteries, have the equipment to do the work that is needed. I worked 9.5 years as a jewelry store manager.

Unfortunately the backs are made in such a way that you need a special wrench to get it off. Unless you have said tool, don't try it. You'll end up damaging the watch.
Jewelers usually will not charge you for the service, but only for the battery.

Best to take it to a jeweler. They usually don't charge you for that if you buy the battery from them

Most pop off with a small sharp object. Others screw off. Try that first so you don't damage anything.
