I get tired of repeating myself everyday. I always have tell her to think before she ask and pay attention before she do things. I have her write & read a paragraph everyday to remind her to make less mistakes, but still she doesn't think or pay attention resulting in common sense mistakes and me repeating myself constantly. I don't think she even paying attention to what she is reading! Its been 3 weeks and she still do these things.
What can I do to get her to think, listen and pay attention?
See additional detail below for some of the things she did and some of the things she continually to do.

Spilled my glass of water and got some of my work paper all wet. I told her to clean it up. So she takes all the paper(wet & dry) and stacks them all together causing them to get all wet!
She sees a fly land on a cup with water in it that is on the kitchen table and decides she wants to wack it with the fly swatter making another mess!
I shown her a 3 step process how to find answers to simple questions so I don't always have to repeat myself, but she always come back to ask me how to do it again.
I'm sure if I continue this that she will eventually be scared to tell me things which is the last thing I want to have when she gets older.

My 6 year old daughter is the same way. I think they act/react before their brain processes their actions. What I do with my daughter is while gently touching her shoulder to keep her focused on me, have her look directly at me as I give her instructions i.e. take this shirt in your your, put it on a hanger, hang it up. Then I have her repeat back to me what I have just told her and tell her to continually repeat until the task is accomplished. She has a hard time paying attention so we are working with many of the issues and then some that you have referenced.

My 8 year old daughter makes little mistakes in her homework that are simply because she isn't paying attention to the directions or what she's doing and it IS frustrating. She's in the advanced classes in her school, so it isn't that she even has a learning problem, it's more that she has other things running through her head!
I swear she was calmer and behaved better at 4 than she does now! She could follow directions and only be told ONE TIME....now I have to repeat myself 10 times and I'm lucky if it gets done.
It's just something going on with their development, because I've been checking it out and apparently I'm not the only one whose kid is doing the EXACT same thing!
All we can do is wait it out and they'll start doing something else to drive us crazy! :-)

Just, be patient this is a childhood stage, now day kids just think about playing, that's why they rush to do their work to have more time to play. Just tell her that she have to earn things, for example if she doesn't improve her reading she won't be able to watch TV during the week, if she likes to play station tell her that you can give her half an hour and as she improve following direction and the more she improve the more time you can allow her to play.

as long as you are doing it for her all the time, she will continue the same behavior. you need to let her solve her own problems, even if it takes more time and patience. if it gets on your nerves then leave the room for her to solve her own problem.
