It's not unusual to have 2 MOHs. My cousin did that when she got married because she didn't want to choose between her two sisters. Plus, that way your sister will have 2 people to help her with planning her wedding!

Tell her to go for it; it's not unheard of, and it's her special day.

Traditionally the answer is one. The Maid of honour in olden days would stand in for the bride should something happen to her before the wedding (ie death, finding out she had had sex with another man...this was old school when brides had to be "pure" on their wedding day). The maid of Honour would then marry the groom. Back in the day the man often paid a bride price for his new wife to be and the maid of honour...normally a sister or cousin...would ensure that even if something happend the groom would get his money's worth.

But today it's really up to the bride. The MoH is still a position of honor and esteem and should be reserved for only the closest and most dear. If she wants two then she can have two. Most of the time two is when there is a Matron of Honor and a Maid of Honor (married and single respectively) but its not unheard of to have two maids. It is the bride's wedding day and honestly she can do whatever she wants.

I've seen weddings where there are multiple maids of honour.
Usually, in these instances you have one maid of honor (unmarried) and a matron of honor (married).
I've seen this in situations where there are three sisters and choosing one over the other to be the moh would hurt feelings so they have two.

Usually there is only 1 maid of honor, but if she has two people who she feels are close to her that she wants go for it... I think if she is getting married in a church there are rules, and only one of the girls will be able to do stuff there, like hand the bride her unity candle, hold the boquet, etc... but the other could do the duties at the reception and dinner, ex... take the money for the dollar dance, give a speech.... she can have one do the ceremony and one do the recpetion , it could be nice.

The bride can have as many, or as few, maids of honor as she wants. She doesn't have to have any if that is what she wants. Traditionally it has been one, but more and more brides are going with multiple maids of honor...

You can have as many bridesmaid as you want but you should only have one maid of honour.

What the point in having more than 1?
Its 'maid of honour' not maids of honour!

Tell her shes greedy.
Theres only 1 best man too!

Traditionally, you only have one maid - of - honor (MOH) but nowadays brides will have more. If one is married then you will call one of them a Matron of honor. But I wouldn't have more then one becuase it stands for something and when you ask for more then one then it takes some of that meaning away. But that is just my opinion.

Traditionally I think it is about 1 per 50 guests but nowadays it is really just up to the bride. I had 120 guests and 4 bridesmaids, my favorite cousin and my three best friends. Two really shouldn't be a problem but it is totally up to your sister.

Only one Maid of Honour (Or Matron of Honour if she is married). The other would be a Bridesmaid.
