Someone who had an outbreak of herpes hugged me and their face touched my neck, several minuites later they told me that it was herpies (I thought it was just Acne) and I washed my neck discretely. What are the chances that i will develop herpies from this level of contact and if the viris is present will it appear at the area of contact or will it travel to the mouth?

If there were no leaking sores you should be ok....and unless the sores were near the mouth it WAS only Herpes anyhow.

Truthfully the person was probably Fing with you. Who says that?

Unless you had open skin...a scratch, sore etc. Then the likelyhood of you contracting herpes is very small.

There are two types of herpes. Herpes Simplex virus-1 generally effects the area around the mouth, but contact with genitals can spread the virus there as well.

Herpes simplex virus-2 effects mainly the genitals.

Herpes can travel though the nervous system and cause sores to errupt on other parts of the body.

I would recommend you read up on it, just so you know the facts in the future. There are lots of good information sites including www.goaskalice.com www.wikipedia.com www.webmd.com

Herpes will not form on your kneck. You can also wash your body until your arm falls off, it won't help the virus from spreading or not.
You can also have a break out of herpes a long long long time after being exposed.

They are either REALLY misinformed about their condition or they were pulling your leg. You don't get herpes on your face--except on the mouth. Other than that--it can be on the genitals.
