mom cat should be fixed now (most vets will tell you differently if when you call to make the appointment they perfer to wait)
the kittens should be removed from the "feral" population and taken to the local SPCA or shelter where a foster home can "tame" them for adoption and fixed also

At 8 weeks the kittens are independent. Get the mother fixed right away. Spay/neuter the kittens around 4-6 months, depending on their size. I would say at about 4 months round them all up and take them to a vet and ask which ones are ready. (This is what I've done in the past.) Generally, most vets will do it around 4 months.

What a kind person you must be! It is great there is someone out there as caring as you. My vet told me that 12 weeks is the safe option for the little ones. They should also be independant by now (as you know you can adopt kitties at 6-8 weeks of age), so it should be safe to get their mama fixed. I hope everyone in your neighbourhood is aware of the problem and don't just let them go stray for awhile so it is not their responsibility to have them "fixed" because they think someone else will take care of the problem. Hard to believe but there are creeps like that around!
I can't say how much I respect you as a person in doing these precious creatures the biggest favour of their lives. You should be applauded :)

The mother cat can be fixed at anytime. I had a momma kitty that had to get 2 kittens sugically removed, so while the vet did that, they went ahead and fixed her.
Some vets will tell you to wait til she stops producing milk though. You can have the kittens fixed now, but you can wait til they are about 5 months or so. I have a 12 week old kitten and he is getting his in a few weeks.

The kittens have to wait until they are 6 months old. The mother needs to get fixed as soon as she is done nursing. If not, she can get pregnant as soon as she gives birth..... really, after 6 weeks the kittens should be seperated from the mom so she candry up and you can get her fixed.

The kittens should be neutered when they are at least 6 months old. You must wait for the mom, till the kittens are independent, because the surgery for her will be quite painful, she'll have to leave them for a while and then she won't be able to take care of them, so they should be independent.

Wait until kittens are 2-3 months old, when thy stop milking, then you can take the mother to neuter. I don't know what's a good age to neuter kittens, I always wait them to be adult and have their first litter, to be shure they have grown up and are endocrinally normal and healthy. Plus, I recommend for the she-cats health's sake, not to wipe their ovaries, but ask the vet for a _salpingoclasia_.

You need to wait until they are 6 months old and weight at least 4-6 pounds, if you do it to early the anstheia they use to put the cats to sleep could kill them because they wont wake up. Good Luck!

I think that you should wait until the cats are independant for the mother to be fixed.
