Shrinks, doctors seem to be on a Zoloft kick lately. I have never liked it myself. Prozac is a much better drug. Course as you may know many anti depressants have been linked to suicides. This has doctors running scared. I have never seen Zoloft help anyone. I have taken it and have had friends take it. Prozac is the drug of choice.

Hi , I 've been taking Zoloft for over 1 year and with all honnesty i only heard bad things about it , it didn't do much for me . I'm going to see another doctor this week . Zoloft gives you a rollercoaster of emotions ... Gives you highs as much as lows . My advice would be to eat well , exercice and try zoloft but if you don't feel any better don't let it linger... Good luck

I actually took Zoloft for a year and a half and I took myself off of it. If your going through depression and thats that the doctor prescribes to you, you will probably start out at 25 mg. And if it doesn't help some move the mg up. When taking Zoloft, it takes a few weeks for it to actually start helping. I know mine didn't help me for a long time and then I started relying on it.. Thats why I took myself off. It make my day a tad bit better. But, not too much. Sorry I can't be much help.

I was diagnosed a little over a year ago with bipolar disorder. I used to be a lot more emotional and tearful over little things until I got treated and started taking Zoloft and Geodon. My mood has been pretty stable. It's hard to tell if it is the medication or my attitude. I haven't had any bad side effects from it. My advice is to be very open with your doctor, be patient, and if it doesn't work try something else.

There's nothing wrong with you. Anxiety, panic attacks, phobias and obsessions and most depression are not caused by mental or physical illness. Anxiety disorders are caused by a tiny change in the way the brain handles anxiety signals from the sensory organs. Anxiety disorders are not caused by chemical imbalances...they can cause them, but they are not caused by them! This is why anxiety and panic attack medication like Zoloft doesn't work, it may mask the symptoms (if anything) and when they are stopped, it generally all floods back. You can overcome anxiety forever by resetting your brain. This re-set happens through a process called Operant Conditioning - it's the same process that happens when you learn new activities - like driving or playing an instrument - it's learning through repetition.

I have Major Depression and Fibromyalgia and just came out of a 2 yr Deep Depression. I was taken Lexapro for about 5 yrs, and my Dr recently switched me to Zoloft. (Both drugs are closely related)
It took about 3 weeks of taking 200 mgs to start feeling better, and it has helped me a lot. You just have to find the drug that works best for you with the least side effects. I hope it works for you and wish you luck.

Zoloft did help me , I actually started to feel better except after a year of taking it , I had diarreah everyday and I had to go off of it. Now , I don't have to take anything. I feel completely recovered. I did also go to a therapist for years too. Plus, eating right (no soda, no fried food, less ice cream) and Exercise really does help. My biggest thing was getting proper sleep. Which was really hard for me. I took a class called "Say goodnight to Insomnia" it really helped me get better sleep by teaching you things to do and fact about insomnia. Best of luck to you.
