Meth is very physically addicting especially the form of meth known as Ice. Ice is a highly purified form of Meth that was made back in WWII to keep the soldiers going for longer periods of time without fatigue and to keep them happy in what obviously wasn't happy circumstances. Realizing that it worked too well and that when the soldiers did not have it they became unable to function, etc, they then scheduled it as a controlled substance so they could really make some money from it (sorry all you politicians). When a person uses meth on a day to day basis it completely changes their bio chemistry in their body. Their metabolism speeds up, their blood thins, they have constant happy neurons firing, etc. . . when they come down their metabolism slows ways down, blood thickens, neurons stop firing. . . it can literally be impossible for them to stay awake even days after being clean. It takes anywhere from 30 to 90 days for a consistent user to actually function somewhat "normally" again. It's also been said that once you become addicted to meth and you come clean that you can no longer get excited or happy about things that you used to do to the fact that your transmitters are so messed up. That is one of the reasons people say that it is so hard to stay off of it. Hope that helps.

don't listen to the people that are saying its addictive (physically). They are the same people calling pot the "gateway" drug and picketing for tighter drug laws lol.
Im clean now but was an addict for 8 years (heavy daily use) and have used drugs for about 6 or 7 years before that. I never had a problem until I used a PHYSICALLY addictive drug.
Physically addictive does not mean it alters your body or does something to your body. It means you become DEPENDANT on it and you become physically sick if you don't have it, and again perfectly well the minute you ingest.
The only drug out of pot, cocaine, methemphetamine, shrooms, acid, mescaline, Freon, nitrous, ecstasy, Xanax, various opoid derived pills, heroin, and a few others I am probably missing that are PHYSICALLY ADDICTIVE (create dependency on a biological level) are Xanax, and opiates (heroin, oxycodone, vicodin & similar pills) as well as alchohol.
Everythying else is either non addictive or psychologically addictive.
In this case, it is far better to trust the addict than the leftist conservative know it alls. TBH I have seen doctors who knew less about a specific drug, its ROA (route of admin), its effects, or its treatment than I do. Scary really.

It is only mentally addicting addicting not physical because your body isn't producing the chemical that meth took over making, your brain tells you that it's needed so get more. Over time a strong person can overcome this if they stay the course and away from friends who use or any other situation which may trigger the temporary lack of stimulation

RE:
Is ice (crystal meth) physically addictive?
Some of my friends seem to have withdrawal symptoms and physically weaken when they're not high. It's beyond just being 'all in your head'...they are dizzy and lack the ability to remain alert, even with plently of food and sleep.

An amphetamine, through its stimulant effects, produces a positive feeling, but when it wears off it leaves a person with the opposite feelings. This is because of the suppression by the drug of the normal production of adrenaline. Now, a chemical imbalance is created and the result is irritability that physically demands more of the drug to go back to normal and feel good again. Eventually, natural reward messenger chemical production is almost shut down completely. If the drug is removed at this time, there will be a feeling of panic. This extreme state of irritability, tension and anxiety is what is called withdrawal. During this time attempts at meeting normal survival needs don't register satisfaction in the brain's reward system because, the messenger for satisfaction has been suppressed by the drug. Instead, the central survival mechanism sends out a panic signal screaming that the body is in extreme distress.

It may be physically addicting. I don't know. But it is not physically addicting like cigarettes or heroin. You can not compare them which is what I feel the pundits here are saying.
