There is no "home remedy" for tapeworms. Are you sure that it what the cat has? There are many parasites that can invest cats and a number of different kinds of worms.
If your cat is a "client" with a veterinary practice (and every cat needs it's doctor, just as you do) the vet will simply let you purchase a pill to rid the cat's body of a tape worm. The medication is specific to the tape worm, other medications are used for other parasites. Tape worms infest cats by way of fleas so if the cat is treated some sort of flea product must be used to prevent future infestation.

Tapeworms won't kill your pet, but it is better to get them dealt with. It does decrease their nutrition. My shelter director says that tapeworms are the least problematic for pets to carry. She thinks its no big deal.
When you call the vet don't ask for an appointment. Just say your cat has tapeworms, you have seen the worm segments and you know that's what it is. (I assume that is correct?) Then ask for meds. They may ask you take in a sample of the stool to be checked.
You can also get worming products online, but some places will require a prescription from your vet. I buy some meds from petshed.com in Australia. They have fewer requirements for prescriptions. Just be sure your get one labeled for TAPEWORMS. Different kinds of worms need different meds, so you need to read the literature before buying.
And no, there are no home remedies. Some people will tell you to make the cat eat motor oil, but that will kill it faster than the worms.

you can go to any pet store and find what is called tape worm tabs. "Don's buy the generic cheap stuff" it comes with only 3 tablets in it and you just crush the tablet in the cats food. I only used one tablet for my cat and the tapeworm was gone. The cheapest place to buy it and you don't have to get out of your house is petmeds.com. The price is about $10 a bottle. Good luck to you and your cat.

Drontal or Banminth must be given at the right dosage, twice, the second time 2 weeks after the first. If your pet shop sells them, you can get them. Or call the vet, perhaps he'll just tell you the prescription without having to pay for a visit.

I'm really curious how you diagnosed it with tapeworms specifically and not another worm. There are lots of different species of worms that love to inhabit cats, especially outdoor cats. Some of which can be spread to humans.

Just call the vet and get some de-worming meds. I know I don't have to take my dog in for them to give me the meds.
Or try petmeds.com they are cheaper on there than at the vet office.
Most stuff you can buy in the stores (grocery, dept stores) aren't good enough.
Good luck.

Try worm medicine from Walmart. If that doesn't work, take your kitty to the vet while she is still alive.

call the vet and get the meds. Then, get something for fleas. That is how they get tapeworms - so de-worm & de-flea!

Being a responsible pet owner requires taking your animal to the vet when it is sick or injured.
