I don't want to keep the window closed and I did confront her about it but she was quiet rude to me.

Don't you have a screen in your window, that might help. You can buy some cat repellent at a garden center and spray that around the front and your window sill, or talk to your neighbor and tell her that you don't want to have to call animal control on her. but the best thing to do do would be to take care of the open window somehow.

Is a screen too obvious of an answer? You could always get some stuff at the pet store that keeps animals away. Not sure of the exact name but it's something like 'Cat B Gone' but it's a cat repellent.
Have a great day!!!

I agree, you should consider putting a screen in your window.

Do you have other pets there? Sounds like the cat is trying to expand its territory to your house. If you dont have other pets, you can consider getting a dog or another cat that can clain dominence and perhaps scare the cat away.

But first thing is first...put a screen in.

Either shut the window or put a screen on it so the cat can't get in

Put a screen on your window. Why would you have a window open without a screen in the first place?

A window screen would work.

You could wait until it comes in then close the window and call animal control.

Why do cat people think leash laws don't apply to them?

get a screen would be the obvious answer or dont open the window so wide... however there is another solution.....

most cities have by-laws about cats roaming.. you can call your local by-law department or SPCA or animal shelter and ask if your city has such laws... if so you can catch the cat any time it is off the owners property and take it to the SPCA or shelter or have a by-law officer pick it up and take it there for you...
infact even without the by-law there is nothing stopping you from taking the cat to the SPCA and saying its a "stray"

I did this on my porch to keep the strays away and it works!!! Sprinkle crushed red pepper flaks around your window and on the window sill. The cats hate the spicy smell and and if it eats some well it won't harm it like chemicals will.

Buy a can of pepper and put it all over the ground by your window. Or you could get a screen for the window. The pepper will make the cat sneeze and sneeze!

Install a screen on your window. You can keep the window open and keep the critters out.

In the meantime, if you see the cat inside take a waterbottle and squirt the sucker w/ water.
