If you want to learn about the differences in words that have very close meanings, the best thing to do is spend a lot of time reading. Pay close attention to the words you want to know and how they are used. A thesaurus isn't going to be useful, but it likes to pretend that word have exactly the same meaning, but in reality, we don't have many words that mean exactly the same thing or can be used in all the same situations.

Asking a teacher to explain isn't really going to help because it is too complicated and a dictionary make just make you more confused. Read. That is how most native speakers learn subtle difference too.
