I'm moving to France - and have a wonderful one-eyed ginger cat. Is he allowed to come with me or do I have to leave him in England?

your cat will be able to go too, but will need to have vaccines against rabies etc blood tests, flea & tick preventive treatments ticks are a particular nuisance in some countries they can carry different diseases than our ticks.you will need to see your vet asap to make arrangements for pet passport. your cat will need a microchip as well, a large cat travel box provision for food & water equipment. dont forget to keep him in initially when you get there as he may go exploring good luck !!!

Yes certainly but you need to have your cat chipped and also injected against rabies, even though there is no rabies problem in either France or the UK at the moment. The latter must be done at least six months before you go.You also need to have a note from a vet saying that your cat is in good health. I moved to France with nine cats, two dogs and a rabbit. The vaccinations cost a bomb but were worth it. When I left England there was no check on the pets, nor in France but I had to show my documents. I believe that if I was to bring them back I would have quite a check in England and a necessary veterinary certificate that the cats were clear of worms and fleas and that the rabies jabs were up to date. For anyone bringing in more than 3 pets, the allocation is three pets per person! So for my little collection, four people accompanies them!!

Love to your beautiful cat xxx

Yes you can bring him to France but you need to go to the vet and get a passport. There is no rabies in England and that would be the main worry for the French but your vet should be able to give you certificates of your cats health

My friends took 2 cats to Spain from UK not so long ago. They had to complete a course of vaccination, and get their cats micro tipped. Also, they had to get 2 cat passports. Then they had to by special portable cat cages from the air line they were using, and each cat had to weight no more than 7kg including the cage. Then the cats went into cargo space. All that costed around £600. And it took a few months to prepare, otherwise they would be charged extra.
You have to contact your vet, air line, and French Consulate about it.
Good luck.

when taking an animal into another country, they might just ask for a vet's note saying they have a clean bill of health(that's for a cat to go into the states from Canada)but other country want a 6 month quarantine before the animal can be let into the country.

call up France customs and ask what kinda paper work you need and see if England customs want any paper work for the animal to leave

you ought to no longer be frightened a pair of outrage. Your cat is the two a street cat or a... nicely, no longer-street cat. Mine is like yours, indoor. We flow to alot of places. you ought to hold an crate and alitter field. merely placed the clutter field interior the some time past seat and be carefull a splash. My cat have been given ill the 1st time we had her with us, she threw up(interior the clutter field) and boy! Did she have the stinkest dung. you ought to enable her to roam for some time and how some distance are you taking her? by no skill open the domicile windows and don't leave her interior the automobile at lodges. We went to the Redwoods as quickly as and he or she grew to become into left interior the automobile. We got here lower back nad placed each thing lower back interior the automobile and somebody had observed her laying below the automobile. We have been grateful of coarse. the problem-unfastened products is, watch her in any respect cases!

I can't see why not. You need to call the French embassy for requirements on bringing an animal from England into France (if any quarantine needed, shots, export permits from your home country). Then you need to get to your vet who will actually help you with all the documentation requires. Then you call airlines to find out which accept pets (either in cargo or in cabin) and find out their requirements (kennel, other protocols). Its not really as complicated as it sounds. LOTS of people take their pets with them on planes and boats now when travelling. I am one of them!

I have moved a cat from Germany to France, and while you need to get the proper papers to satisfy the French authorities, your bigger concern should be getting your cat back into England. Please check into the requirements before you go, because unless they relaxed them since I last looked into it, you may have a very difficult time managing the return trip. You could always just teach kitty to meow in French!

Simply call the French consulate and ask your question. I am sure they have dealt with it many times. Since the two countries are so close and the situation would arise with some frequency I would think many vets would have information about it too. If you are flying airlines will also be able to give you information about taking pets into another country.

I'm sure you should be able to get a pet passport. Ring your vets for advice and good luck - he'll love France!
