Genesis 22
1) And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am.
2) And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.

So most of these believers say no, but applaud Abraham and call him faithful for attempting to do so. That god stopped him is irrelevant, according to the account he was going to do it because god. commanded him to do so.
They also say god would never ask them to do that, yet believe he did to Abe.
Believers please explain?

Read the passage carefully,Abraham said to his servants,"We are going up to the mount, and "we"(meaning he and Isaac) will return".He knew God would do the right thing,He also knew God promised to make Isaac a nation, and whatever happened on that hill would be for the good of Isaac, and it was.
Remember Paul said,"and Abraham BELIEVED God and it was counted to him as righteousness".
Basically what Abraham was saying was "God said it ,I believe it ,and that settles it."

Actually, I need God's help daily just to keep him alive. The event you refer to is unique in history and was only to be a test of Abraham's willingness, at the same time a prophetic "type" of what God the Father would do with His only begotten Son to judicially remove the sins of mankind. However, it's not applied to us until we believe and repent.

it was all about obedience, God didn't want Isaac to kill his son, he wanted to see if he had his trust and obedience, before he could even touch him God stopped him and provided the sacrifice. However, i personally, if i had to would definitely find it very hard to do that but that's why God is God. He loved us soooo much, that He did give His Only begotten Son... so that whomever believed in Him would not perish but have everlasting llife.. John 3:16

As stated in scripture..which was quoted to Isaac by Abraham..God will provide himself a lamb and he did. That lamb was Jesus Christ. The sacrifice has already been made that ends all sacrifice.

That passage was in the old testmnt. before Jesus gave his life for us. God would not ask us do that now because Jesus has shed enough blood to free us all from our sins if we would just call upon his name, turn from our evil ways and follow him.
If i were the one he asked back then....well i don't know i would like to think i would do what ever was asked of me by the Lord. Besides he gave his only begotten Son....

Abraham was being tested and God never intended to allow him to go through it. I wouldn't, and God would never ask me to.

If God told me to do something, I sure as heck wouldnt just ignore Him. God is our father, and we should respect Him even more than the Bible tells us to our parents.

Islam prohibits killing of children.
That was a test to a Prophet of God. That's what makes him a Prophet, his total dedication and surrender to God.
Peace be on him.
