Yes, when I was about eight my mother took me to see Billy Graham, I was totally mesmerized, and still, over forty years later, I remember him telling a story about a white dog (good) fighting with a black dog (bad)-any racist undertones escaped me at the time. Anyway after the "show" I went to the front and signed up. The next morning 2 smart young men turned up at my home to speak to me, I was totally freaked out and refused to see them, but thought a lot about what had made me "sign up"
.
Since then I have had a fascination with evangelism, and deliberately put myself in the line of fire numerous times. I think it was a good "inoculation" to have at that age, as since then I have never really fallen for what amounts to little more than emotional manipulation and "rabble rousing". This is not a criticism of Christianity by the way.

The first and still the best television evangelist was the late Bishop Fulton J. Sheen.

He preached God's truth during prime time, on network televison, to people of all faiths, had a great sense of humor, and never solicited a dime from anyone.

During high school I attended a few Pentecostal meetings (I was curious about my friend's obligation to go), and was struck by the behavior I saw. Always a people-watcher, I found it most interesting, provoking thoughts like, "what makes them do this or love to do this?", "what is God saying here?". When changing channels, I'd pause at the televangelists to view and listen. My interest is in people, the siritual aspect failed to move me. I later responded to the logic and sense of the scriptures, and even later came to accept that there MUST be different strokes for different folks. I could just never imagine JC acting like the raging, prancing guys and gals I saw in that type of church.

Just mesmerized by the emotionalism of it all. Most of them deal with emotions, they play to it like a Geisha with a fan in her hands, it's what they do best.

Sometimes I watch just to verify that I was right in not watching them anymore lol

I've found myself incredulous and in utter shock. Anyone who starts saying that Yu-Gi-Oh cards are actually a tarot deck has got some serious issues!!
