In the bible it tells how God informed Joseph...Had God told me that my wife was giving birth to him in order to save the world...I would be very cool with it.

In Regards to the Immaculate Conception, I believe anything is possible. Science has proven that semen anywhere near the vaginal area has a reasonably high survival rate, possibly to the point of impregnation. Several religions support the "Mary - Joseph" story.
As far as Joeseph's reaction and Mary's for that matter, Surprise and disbelief is not limited to just personal miracles. We are always so willing to rationalize everything away, humanity wouldn't know a miracle if it bit the world in the azz. We are too skeptical to recognize one.

no it was an arranged marriage he assumed she had screwed around and he was going to divorce her quietly until an "angel"came and explained it to him.
