Hi Sweetheart :)
Don't lose it -- I'll try and help. The best way to find a psychiatrist in your area is to go to the website Doctor Finder "http://webapps.ama-assn.org/doctorfinder/home.html." I also found another resource (see below) that focuses specifically on finding a mental health care professional and how to get your needs met.
Now if you don't have insurance, that's another matter but there are still options: you will need to research the mental health clinics in your area, describe your problems, and get put on a list for an appointment. (Here's a hint, though: keep pursing it -- every day -- call, tell them you need someone right away, you are going to lose it...that will get you an evaluation and appointment that much faster.) Clinics take fees based on a sliding scale, so if you have very little, you pay very little -- or nothing, depending on your situation.
My heart goes out to you -- I hope this helps -- good luck :)

What's up? Call a helpline in your area if it is urgent. Sometimes just getting stuff off your chest can be a complete relief and to someone anonymous can be good. To see a psychiatrist, you probably need a referal from your doctor. Otherwise you could check out counselling services through local community centers. They are often cheap if not free. Talk to a friend until you can sort it out. There are always people who love you more than you may ever know .

If you have insurance, call your insurance plan for information on seeking psychiatric care. They can refer you to one in your area as they have a list.
The way I found my first psychologist was by calling my county Health Department for a referral. The telephone directory has a listing too.
In the meantime, check out www.hufa.org - especially the symptoms link. If you start eating a protein-based diet with low glycemic carbs and good fat, you may be able to hang on long enough to find a psychiatrist.

If you have a Primary Care DR, ask for a referral. If not, go on line and research Psychiatrists in your area, then choose one and call for an appointment.

Go to your regular doctor and explain that you would like to see a psychiatrist. He will ask you why you think that? After you tell him the reasons, he will be able to guide you in the right direction to a good therapist. Good luck!!

Speak to your GP about why you think you need to see a Psychiatrist and they will refer you for an assessment. In the meantime please speak to an organisation that can give you help and advice and act as some form of support until you get the appropriate referral.

I'm sorry to hear that you are in emotional turmoil.
Look up a Psychiatrist nearest you in your phone directory. You may even be able to call your local hospital's main number and ask that they give you name of a Psychiatrist on staff.
I pray for your emotional strength.
