I have been tested by a specialist to find out what my allergies are. In the test, it came up that I am moderately allergic to dogs. This made me really sad to think that I can never get the breed of dog that I want. My family grew up with a poodle so I know that wool animals aren't a problem but I want to get a specific pet. Am I just out of luck or are there any of you out there who get allergy shots or something like that??? Thanks!

It is possible to live with animals even though you have allergies..I also suffer (with asthma) and most animals cause a reaction..As long as you wash your hands and do not permit the animal to sleep with you or in your sleeping area, you can minimize the effects.. And yes there are also allergy shots that DO work (just very pain full) Ha-Ha

In order for you to get a dog, it would have to be allergy friendly. As you know, poodles are low dander, non-shedding dogs. Also you might consider a poodle hybrid, i.e. labradoodle, cockerdoodle. But their are several other breeds you can get that won't upset your allergies. Go to the links below, they will help you find the right dog breed for you.

Good luck.

There are shots, pills, and even different shampoos (for the animal) that can reduce or eliminate symptoms. I have severe allergies but with my medicine I have a dog, and a rabbit with no problem. Good luck!

someone might properly be born with a genetic tendancy to have hypersensitive reactions, many hypersensitive reactions are hereditary, or you are able to improve hypersensitive reactions over a volume of time. hypersensitive reactions are the immune structures reaction to allergens, over a volume of time and relentless bombardment of allergen to the immune device someone can demonstrate indicators of an allergy. interior the case of pets you have one in all some possibilities to make. shop the puppy out of the stepdaughters' mattress room, tub the puppy as quickly as a week, or have the puppy stay exterior. If those do no longer help the only answer is to provide up the puppy. There are drugs available to help, yet everytime the youngster has an allergic reaction the indications can worsen.

I have kids with severe allergies, and I have two poodles because they are the dogs that have less dander in their bodies
or hardly none, and they don't have any problems

certain breeds, particularly poodles, do not trigger an allergic response. Because allergies are individual, I would say do a little personal reserach.
