Well I've never raced one but - The speed is measured in Revolutions Per Minute - RPM. refering to the spin speed of the motor anything from 800rpm upward's - a decent one will do 1200rpm or more. Artificial heating of the hair is not good for it and can leave it without it's natural oil's like detergant Shampoo's do;But if in a hurry or styling I suppose you need one - try not to use them all the time though or you could end up with no hair to dry.x

Apart from the heating element, a hairdryer is essentially a fan.
The performance of a fan is rarely measured in terms of an air speed as in your question, but in air volume, which can be CUBIC feet per second. Is that what you mean? You can measure that by yourself: Blow into a garbage bag for a second, and then measure the resulting volume.
As a VERY ROUGH air speed, you can assume about 10ft/second right at the nozzle (full speed, and styling nozzle, and inlet absolutely dust free).
