Unfortunately far too many people cannot and will not put their beliefs aside long enough to live in peace, they think that their way is right and all others should follow it. They say they want to live together then try to rewrite laws that enforce their own ideals in a society. In a perfect world where a persons beliefs were their own and not to be forced on everyone else, the laws would be based on those things the vast majority agree on,not laws that can only be supported by the view of one religion or another.
Example: It is the law in the US that polygamy is illegal, yet several religions allow for more than one wife, how does that protect freedom of religion,it doesn't unless you are Judeo Christian.
In a perfect world the Strip Club and the Church can be on the same street and you go in the one you want. But religious people feel they must have their way even in societies where stringent followers are the minority. And so they fight and cause problems in order to enforce their idea of "order" So while many do want to live in peace, they only want it if it's on their terms.

Not me. If it works that way, then fine. If it's got to be otherwise I'm fine with that too. I was raised in the harsh realm, either or; I'm ready for both; all the time. Life under someone elses control isn't life at all, somethings are well and truly worth foregoing peace. Both states of existence ( War or Peace ) suite me well.

Yes. The essence of God, in whatever language, is Love, and Love engenders peace. But you see, many religions have nothing whatsoever to do with God; yes, I know that God is the facade behind which these religions hide, but take the Church. The Church, whether it be the Church of Rome, the Church of England, the Greek Church, the Coptics - whatever - is solely about power. The Christian Church is an absolutist organisation; but then so is Islam absolutist. And when two absolutist organisations confront each other, each wanting control of everything, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out why most of the conflicts in the world are religiously motivated.

Unfortiunately peace is an ideal, and most problems are not really due to religion. Religion is used as an excuse to fight when there are differences in cultures/countries, due to what many see as unfair distribution of wealth and resources. Interpretations of religious texts are manipulated to a people's own ends. Usually justification for war. So we do want peace, despite what religion we are, but while there is inequality, suffering and jealousy in the world that is never going to happen.

Any person with a semblence of sanity or humanity would want to live in peace, however, certain religious fanatics would have people killed under the guise of "holy war" - so in that case, no, not all religions want to live in peace - only us sane, humane people do.

yes, of course! it's just that some fanatically religious see peace as everyone conforming to their beliefs and standards of right and wrong and god and the afterlife. they will not be at peace themselves unless they convince others of Their Way.
others might say, god has many names; in the way that i am brother, son, nephew, husband, etc. i am still the same person and i am a good person no matter what my relationship to you is. let's get along and enjoy the picnic.

The Bible says , James 3:17 "But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable..." There can be no peace until there is purity. Peace that is not based on righteousness is not peace at all.

Religion has nothing to do with peace All religions teach us to live loving our neighbor and to love all. If there be love peace will be there also
