It could be something in there diet, have tried making them a nice home made chocolate cake with some cannabis in it, that will slow them down quite a bit ;)

Your not going wrong anywhere. I felt the same way too. I thought what am I doing wrong? Am I a bad parent? Because I am strict also with my kids and very consistent in the discipline, but they just cant sit still at all. I mean even while doing homework they are up in their chairs swaying around, etc.., still staring at their homework though. THen I see other kids that are so calm and I think what is wrong? It is a genetic thing. My husband had this when he was younger(still does) and his mother tells me he was just the same with moving around, etc.. You can look up ADHD or even Autism(because the same thing can help for ADHD kids) and look at specific things to take out of their diets which can make them crazy. Wheat is one things..Their is several different natural herbs too that you can try. I dont like any prescribed medicines because I feel they ruin and change the kid for the worse. Even if they are calmer. I tried it on my oldest and it was so horrible. I felt guilty. Anyways, the sites will help you out with the diets. Good luck.

Why do you think you are going wrong? Is your nephew an only child? If he is, he is bound to be quieter than two together. They are probably just normal 4 and 6 year olds with more energy than they know what to do with.....
I think its good that they have all this energy - I'd be more worried if they were sat in front of a tv or playstation all day and at least they aren't fighting with each other (like my 2 nephews do!!)
I'm sure they are fine......
Good luck xx

you are not going wrong at all you are being the best you can, i know how you feel i have a 9 year old who is like it but he's not like it at school, a lot of people will say its what you feed them and all the pop they have, but i feed him healthy food fruit and veg and he seldom has fizzy drinks. do they behave in other places (probably) mine do all as i can say is that they are happy kids and comfortable with there surroundings so they can be themselves. at least there not moaning and crying all the time.

usually hyperactivity is genetic, but it can be aggravated by diet (diet alone is not a cause); for a proper diagnosis you have to seek the advice of a pediatrician or child psychologist; usually a checklist of behaviors is completed by the parents, child's teacher, and any other adult who has contact w/ the child; all of the info is combined to give a rating for different areas of behavior; from this the doctor can make a determination; you are wise to question this early as a short attention span can have negative consequences for children trying to learn in school

Make sure you are getting them outside for regular exercise. Riding bikes, play at the park, etc.
Some kids just have extra energy and aren't necessarily "hyperactive". Every child is different. Don't worry that they have a higher energy level than your nephew.

Your children could have Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder - ADHD. As already mentioned try cutting down on the amount of artificial food enhancers they eat. Go to see your doctor about them if you feel their behaviour is harder to handle than most other children of that age.

Because they are 6 and 4. My granddaughter is extremely active as well. Frankly when I see children just sitting there and are very inactive, I think there is something wrong with them. Children are suppose to be "crazy", that's their job!!!!!

Are they eating lots of sugary sweets or drinking lots of fizzy drinks? that could be the reason, but if not try to speak to them and let them know while it is good to have fun there are some house rules that they need to stick to as well, don't try and stop kids being kids but at the same time they need to know you have boundries
