We have a 15 year old cat who is in good health. We are wondering what to expect when she passes away - will we just find our in a corner when we come home, or should we expect a giant seizure and cries of pain?

It depends. First im sorry to here your cat will pass away soon. The first thing is that even if she is healthy something can happen to cause her to die. if she dosen't have any of those experiences she will find a comfortable and peaceful place and will die there.When she does die, get a copy of the poem Rainbow Bridge. It is about animals and how happy they are in heaven. Good luck.

Some cats live into their 20s; I wouldn't be writing her off so soon. As for how they would die, they may get sick and not be able to recover, they may die in their sleep, who knows? I would think a healthy cat who dies simply from old age would probably die in their sleep; there would be no reason for seizures if they were truly healthy.

We never know in what manner a cat will die granting that it's presently in good health. A cat may die in an instant if it will get run over by a speeding truck. I don't believe that cats have nine lives. Another way is, a cat can die of old age or it can be poisoned by someone who hates cats.

As with humans I suppose anything can happen, but you will probably just see the signs of her getting old, my friends cat had a stroke when it was 20, the vet diagnosed it as that anyway, and he was okay for a while, our old family cat started peeing in the house all the time and being sick on a regular basis, she was about 18.
More than likely you will just see her slow right down, and start to look pretty miserable, most people do the right thing at this stage, and rather than see their pets suffer, have them put to sleep, its a bit sad but its the kindest thing you can do.

Cats seem to have some sort of 'sixth sense' about their imminent death and will often take themselves off to a quiet place in order to die in a dignified way.
I had a dear old, ex feral, tomcat. One day he came into the kitchen and meowed in a most atttention grabbing way. I followed him into the sitting room where he jumped onto a favourite chair, curled up and went to sleep. A little while later I went in to see him; he was dead. It was quite touching that he seemed to know it was time to say 'goodbye'.
I hope your cat, when the time comes, goes as easily.

You will never get an answer to this question as to what to expect.
Our cat was perfectly healthy at age 14 then one day she stopped eating and drinking and found out she had lung cancer. We never knew she was sick, she acted normal until then.
So, don't even worry about it. What you may expect will turn out to be what you didn't expect.
Your lucky she is healthy at age 15 and she could live to be 22.

if she is old and free of illnesses she will die a natural death but you must get ready not to cry as she will just go to sleep and her soul will be taken away.thats the best way to die.hope your cat lives longer as cats can live for 30 years.think about positive things.take your cat for a walk,encourage her to play and make her bones strong and healthy.remeber ,with the help of playing and running around your cat can stay really healthy and live a long life.

Maybe it's your cat's time...
I dunno if you are a believer.
But i do and i believe It must be God's will dear.
He create us and He will take us back to Him too.
When my dog died... i can't accept it, i weep most of the time and only for about a year then i could let it go. It was thru a cries of river. And ever since i don't adopt any dog anymore coz' none can replace her (named Happy).
However, Keep doing the best for your cat, the rest just leave it to THE Almighty LORD .

An animal can die of old age. lt's a peaceful demise when you think of it. At least they died living a full life.
ln our place, a lot of cats died after a car ran over them. How gruesome! Those cats were wandering about when misfortune took place. Hope it doesnt happen to yours.

why do you expect it ?i had 2 cats that lived to 21 both of them,in the end they got fragile and went off their food and went to sleep and didnt wake up ,very peaceful but it wont happen yet if they are alert and lively so dont look for problems
