why do muslim women have to hide their face?

I have been watching the news and this muslim thing that is going on at the moment has caused great concern..ok ive always believed that each to there own but why do muslim women have to hide their face? reason for the question is that im trying to understand this woman on the news..and i hope not to offend anyone ..i was brought up a catholic when i was old enough i decided to be pagan i would appreciate if one of you guys can help

I believe its because they are scared, (I’ve heard a man shoot his wife for speaking to another man, or showing he face) and the ones that are not do this because it reads in the Koran that a women must be covered. Interpretation of every religious book can be understood in many different ways. Perhaps they meant covered in a respectable way not completely but complete coving of a women is the interpretation of many Muslim people so this is how they live there life’s, the way they think is the morally and to say the Muslim way.

They don't. It's a cultural practice. It's mostly practiced in rural areas, and in the gulf states. Most Muslim women don't show their face, and most would argue that Islam does not say it is obligatory for a woman to cover their face. I know Muslim women who wear short sleeve shirts and don't cover their hair, and I know a few Muslim women that cover their faces. It's all up to the individual.

Covering the face is NOT Islamic.It's a tradition. Dont confuse this with that. In Islam women cover their hair, not their faces.

because some Islamic scholars say the face should be covered as it is the main source of temptation.but most say the face doesn't have to be covered.

they aren't, its personal preference, and probably her husband's rules. it definitely doesn't come from islam. and she deserved to be fired for being so unbendingly rude when it comes to the welfare of the children she was hired to teach. Do any of you really think that she is going to incite lust in the hearts of children if she shows her face in ESL class? Isn't that what theveil is all about, to protect men from lust?

Because Muslims men can't be trusted. Believe me. I see them at the clubs all the time. They don't drink, but they wear tons of cologne and hit on the sluttiest girls in the bar. I see them with a different girl each week.

Muslims women cover every inch of their body to keep men from losing control. It's like it's the woman's fault or something.
