Are your inner lamps main-beam only?
Do your outer lamps provide only dipped-beam (H7 bulbs) or both beams (H4 bulbs)?

If the outer lamps provide both beams, you should be legal with these only.
However, you will severely reduce your vision at night on unlit roads (not to mention having a car that looks just a little bit daft).

Checking the Morette website, it looks as if some of their lamps have the dipped-beam units in the inner position (although I cannot be certain). If this is the case, you cannot take them out (although you may be able to take out the outer main-beam units).

If you got dipping outers and blank off the inners no problem, however if you keep the lenses in place I think they have to work.
You probably ought to have main and dip beams to keep Mr Plod happy but I do not think there is a UK construction and use requirement to have a main beam, so you could have dip only outers, and use spots instead of main beam

I don't think this is illegal. My bf has just done a twin headlight conversion on his Astra Gsi and he's took one of the lights out for a hose and has been told its fine. Aslong as you still have your normal and full beam it should be ok (and indicators obv)

Yeah, you should be ok, although your lighting at night will be reduced. I know what kind of Ford you are talking about from the 60's, and it looks pretty sweet.
