I'm not talking about child abuse, I'm talking about the child is acting out, with no regard to the words you say. Is there ever a time where you feel it's within your rights to spank them?? Or maybe flick them??

Yes!!!! If you don't educate your kids with the rod, they won't know when to respect you. But if you discipline them with a little slap on the but or a slap on the cheekbone, (whatever suits really) they will then know who's boss. I'm telling you, if America keep this stupid " oh, don't hurt the child it can affect his psychological being." mess, even boot camp won't control them!!!!

No child EVER deserves to be hit. If a parent feels the need to hit a child then maybe that parent should seek anger management classes because all a parent teaches when they "spank"/hit a child is that it is okay to hit when angry. No parent has the "right" to hit/flick a child. There are other means of discipline that are very effective IF the parent has the patience and parenting skills to use them.

I tell you what, all this crap about parents abusing their kids because they spank them in public or what have you is a bunch of non-sense. My parents whooped my butt almost everyday because i had done something stupid. They weren't abusing me, they were keeping me from carrying a gun to school, they were keeping me from doing drugs or stealing from people. If more parents would take their belts off and tan some hides then there wouldn't be any concern about whether or not your child is safe in school or if he/she is going to do drugs, because they would be too scared of getting that A.s.$ tore up. I say parents of the world unite and start beating some good sense into your kids.

I firmly believe that spanking a child is beneficial to good behavior. (an honest spanking on the bum..not child abuse).

I think all kids should get a spanking sometimes when they disregard their parents because than it will teach them that in the real world u r always goin to have someone to obey if they like it or not.

yes, if your child is doing something that can potentially harm them. like running out into the street, reaching for sharp things, pulling a dogs tail, etc. spanking is not child abuse....it teaches them boundaries and it shows that you care about what they are doing. my parents would spank me if i did something dumb that could have hurt me, but they wouldn't just spank me for little things. but it taught me respect and to know that there are consequences for things. not disciplining your kids is stupid, then they turn out to be brats.

i have spanked mine when she put her finger in the socket, and i told her to stop and she didnt'. ...another time when i was at a gas station and she took off running into the street, and some construction worker was able to catch her before me...all this while i was yelling for her to stop. My point is only when they do something that can be really dangerous so they get the pointyour not kdding .

a good smack with the hand on a child's butt never hurt anybody. there is generally a reason a child is acting out.. have you tried time outs, the important thing to remember here is you are the adult in the situation, is this child acting out because you allow it or is there unlying problems
