The sun shines its light on all without discrimination. Using that as an example, what makes it so difficult for humans to radiate such unconditional love.

If one were to love a particular person more than the other, it means that the love is conditional.

The problem with 'unconditional love', especially in the context of a god, is that it implies love for all regardless of what they do. If you love something with absolutely no conditions, which I feel does not even happen in the human psyche, you are willing to use all of your resources to ensure that the person comes to no harm.

If you happen to be a god, "all your resources" are infinite. He would be bound to ensure that we are, essentially, in a heaven at all times due to his infinite love and infinite power.

Which would completely rule out any form of punishment or ills in this world. If he loves us, why is there a hell? Why is there Sudden Infant Death Syndrome? Why is there any kind of evil in the world, when an omnipotent god could, without actually exerting any effort, make all as if it never existed?

Humans cannot have unconditional love because we live in a universe bound by conditions. We are limited by time, energy, money, logic, a sense of self preservation. The totally unconditional lover would not survive for very long.

Is Jesus your occasion of a thank you to love unconditionally? Then ask your self this question, what are we to benefit from His outburst whilst He chased the money changers interior the temple with a whip jointly as screaming at them? additionally, evaluate the certainty that He provoked the pharisees to severe suits of rage to the factor of them desirous to kill Him on many events. Unconditional love does no longer propose transforming into a doormat for others to step on, humiliate and abuse.

1 John 5:3 For this is the love of Yahweh, that we keep his Laws: and his Laws are not grievous.

To Hate Yahweh is to forsake his Laws.

1 John 3:11 For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.

12 Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous.

13 Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hates you.

14 We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.

15 Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.

Abel kept Yahweh's Laws Cain didn't. Learn true Love as Abel did, keep the Laws of Yahweh.

There are different kinds of love, so how would one measure it or know if it was equal to another kind? My personal barrier to loving unconditionally (and I've tried) is that every time I do the object of my love sees it as weakness and takes advantage.

The fear of being HURT keeps us from giving unconditionally.
I've had many potential partners who immediately started
looking for weaknesses in me, and judging me, and
we just met.
Even had some treat me like a dogg, and run me off. Then they could justify it in their mind that, "See, I knew he wasn't no
good!"
I used to lay down the Law when I first met someone myself.
But I later matured and realized. Man! This person doesn't
even know if they are going to like me, and they are demanding
a commitment. When you think about it, it's SCARY!

The bible defines love in 1 Cor 13 as being longsuffering, kind,as having no envy, as love not parading itself, as love that is not puffed up, as not behaving rudely, as not seeking its own, as not rejoicing in iniquity but rejoicing in the truth, as bearing all things, as believing in all things, as hoping in all things, and as enduring all things. The barriers are impatience, unkindness, envy, attention- seeking, pride, rudeness, selfishness, sinfulness, intolerance, unbelief, hopeless, and giving up too easily. Unconditional love is loving somebody because you decide to love the person whatever the circumstances and reaching out to meet that person's needs and foregoing your own. Christians can give this unconditional love because the Holy Spirit has put God's love in their hearts and they have experienced God's love for themselves. Christian love because God first loves them. Christian love as God loves them. Therefore Christians can love unconditionally only by the power of God's love in them. It is not possible to love unconditionally merely by human effort. Unconditional love loves everyone alike.

The barriers are materialism, self, ego and desire. Break these chains that bind us and we can all love without condition and attain true self knowledge.

There is no real answer to this question but what I have learned of what love is to me and that is the word LOVE itself holds the answer.......

(L)isten: and validate them by hearing and empathizing.
(O)verlook: their minor character flaws as they will overlook yours.
(V)alue: who they are and what they mean to you.
(E)xpress: how you love them not just with words but with actions.
