What do you think of this passage from the 1 Corinthians 11:2-16

Now I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God. Every man who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head. And every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head—it is just as though her head were shaved. If a woman does not cover her head, she should have her hair cut off; and if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut or shaved off, she should cover her head.A man ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God; but the woman is the glory of man.For man did not come from woman, but woman from man;neither was man created for woman, but woman for man.For this reason, and because of the angels, the woman ought to have a sign of authority on her head.

Do you think the covering refers to long hair,or a literal covering?I

I think you should do what is in your heart right. If you don't cover your head, but your heart is right before God, HALLELUJAH!
If you do cover and your heart isn't right before God, then it means nothing to God.

The woman head covering is her hair, my wife has long hair almost down to her waist. But let not think that a woman that has long hair is always a Christian. Plus we also have to realize that some woman hair just will not grow long, are we to judge those people, NO, We have to see that many Black people hair does not grow long & some of their's does, I am one for a woman to have long hair if possiable, But I do also believe a woman can cut & trim her hair to a resonable length, & don't ask how long, as I already said, some woman hair can not grow long, I am not using a measuring tape, to see how long their hair is. A true Christian woman will know how much to cut & trim her hair.

Im thinking its something written a few thousand years ago, interpretted and jumbled up to look like it belongs in one book.?You know these same people thought the earth was flat, what makes anyone think literal interpretation of cave people has any direct transaltion to a different culture in a different time?

to be honest i think it's talking in general about about hair... but remember that this comes from the Old Testament and the God in the Old Testament is a 'different' God of the New Testament. He was more 'quick' to action/judgment back then, but then He sent us Jesus Christ and He changed, a little. it's the same how He said that man should eat only certain foods that He deemed clean and the unclean ones were not to be eaten, but then in the New Testament He states that everything on His Earth can be eatten because He made it and it was therefore clean

Well it is hard to tell from the translation. I think this is where the head covering in church came from. (I am a Catholic). It seems in the middle east area religions revolved with female hair issues if you check Jewish customs and those of Muslims.

I believe it is speaking of two distinct head coverings and one is the hair. Otherwise why the redundancy? I do cover my head but then again it says "Judge for yourselves"

who cares. old scriptures don't matter any more. You have to realize that Paul thought women should also not be allowed in the church, but should be in a separate room, or at the very most standing at the very back wall so as not to interrupt men in their discussions, since women didn't have real brains.
